Jon, you might want to take a good look at it - it seems as if this guy might have the taskbar hooking working out perfectly (or else that is a mash-up of just screen shots with no real code - but this guy sounds legit from other posts I have seen).

Finally, check out http://www.sevenforums.com/software/6087-ultramon-replacement-6.html#post82245 - using both DF and UM together it seems you can have targeted apps - IOW, only apps on each monitor show up in that monitor's taskbar....

Might be a good workaround for those who simply cannot live without this feature currently in DF - although personally I also think it would be a bad idea to mention your competitor's product(s) on your own web pages in this manner

re: VMs - Jon, which solution are you using, and if it is VBox, have you found a way to *not* have to reinstall the VMs from scratch - that is what is holding me back at the moment from making many VMs right now....

It's still a bit early to get excited about a native looking Windows 7 taskbar, but the foundation for it is built now. I'll probably work towards that for version 3.1 or 3.2.

This one adds a couple new configuration options. And, the biggest change of all, it has the first DWM integration. It ties into DWM in Vista and Windows 7 to provide taskbar previews for minimized windows. Something Windows XP can't do. Integrating these DWM functions is the first step towards a fully native looking taskbar... but one step and a time.
