Thanks, it'd be a great feature for DF to have this. It's got way more features than I can practically apply now, but the ability to split a physical display into multiple functional logical displays would definitely be something I'd get a lot of use out of.

@Wolverine: Thanks for posting that utility! Hopefully that will help Shawn out.
@Shawn: DisplayFusion doesn't currently have functionality to split monitors into two, but it's something we may add in the future. If we do, I'll be sure to post an update.
Thanks!

Window snapping to regions seems kind of iffy, but I'd say it's about 75% of what I'm looking for.

Does DisplayFusion have the ability to divide an existing monitor into two (or maybe more) "logical" monitors so that window sizing and auto-positioning functions (ie, tiling) respects the boundaries of the virtual monitor?

A basic example: Divide an existing 1600x1050 monitor in half (2 x 800x1050) so that when a window in the left hand logical monitor is maximized it zooms to that logical monitor's dimensions, and vice versa for the right side.

The purpose for me is that so I often I find myself working on something that requires monitoring two or more windows in real time and working in a third and sometimes fourth at the same time. DisplayFusion has some options for automatically sizing and moving (ie, move to upper right, size 50%) but my layout and window choices for within the layout are always ad-hoc, so it's kind of a pain to have to manage each window manually to get the right layout.

I often find myself wishing for a third monitor but there's so much wasted space on these widescreen displays that subdividing them seems to make more sense than adding an additional video card, etc.

More complicated features I imagine might be useful are:

Asymmetrical logical monitor sizes (ie, a 1200x800 on top, 400x800 on the right and 1600x250 on the bottom, although not limited to three)
Unlimited logical monitor count (although I can see diminishing returns past a certain number)
Logical monitors spanning multiple physical displays (like above, if I have two 1600x1050 displays, maybe one is sized 800x1050 and the other is 2400x1050).
Graphical division setup (ie, draw boxes to get sizes "just right" vs. just entering numbers)
Automatic grid-based setup (X by Y) to get a certain number of equally sized virtual monitors
