I tested by enabling monitor fading (with the "Fade All Monitors" mode), and then open and closed the start menu a few times with and without that animation setting disabled. After disabling it, the issue seemed to go away.

Hey, no I originally posted this issue back in May 2020. What was your testing methodology? I am noticing that it seems to be happening when I use the Brave browser. Unfortunately I have to add another reply to this thread, as it appears this issue has raised itself again.

Your previous reply to me actually seemed to fix the issue at the time. Im just realising I never responded to that - my apologies.

I have just checked and I still have that option unticked, but yet this issue is still present.

I am currently using the most up to date version of Windows 10 Professional x64, and just yesterday updated my version of DisplayFusion as well.

In the 'About' section of the DisplayFusion software the details are:

DisplayFusionPro 9.9
Windows 10 or Server 2016 (20H2) (10.0.19043.0)

Go to the Windows Settings
Search for "performance"
Click on "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows"
On the Visual Effects tab, disable the "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" option

I was thinking of a different issue where the taskbar flickers when notifications are shown. This one is caused by the same root .NET Framework bug, but there isn't currently a workaround

You can work around it by disabling Windows Settings > Personalization > Colours > Transparency Effects.

Just wanted to report an "issue" I have been facing. When I have the monitor fading option enabled and my screen is faded as it should, however if I receive a notifcation from Windows, the fading then disables and enables itself quickly a few times, what I would describe as a "flicker". It's just more annoying than anything else.
