The Standalone Pro Personal licence does have one advantage. It has the right to be installed on one employer-owned computer of which you are the sole user. Given that employers will likely get annoyed if you installed Steam on your work machine this could be an issue.

I got the more expensive Pro Personal licence for this reason. The officially provided multi monitor software installed by my employer is Ultramon and frankly it's crap compared to DisplayFusion.

Once downloaded through Steam you dont need to open Steam again as the DF software runs independantly or at least it does on my system. DF runs the same whether it is the Steam version or stand alone, I had the stand alone and changed it to the Steam version.

I noticed you guys will be having a sale on Steam tomorrow and was pondering whether to buy it there or save a bit more for the standalone version. Though I'd prefer to run it without having to open steam, I might make the compromise due to the price difference if it works as smoothly as it does on the Standalone one.

Some software seems to run a bit slower, or have more bugs on the steam versions so it'd be nice to hear people's experiences before making the purchase.
