As a workaround, if you wanted to automate your DisplayFusion Settings backup, you could create a Scheduled Task to run the following command:

regedit.exe /e X:\DisplayFusionSettingsBackup.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion"

Just make sure to change the "X:\DisplayFusionSettingsBackup.reg" part of the command to whichever path/filename you like.

Most programs that I use have some way in the program to set the default location.

Go the usual route - open the settings window then click on Backup Settings.
In the left hand pane find your desired backup location then right click on it.
Choose Add To Library.
From now on its just a case of when you choose to backup, click on Backup Settings then in the left hand pane under Library select the drive you chose for your backup location.
Maybe the staff will have a better answer but until then, that works for me.
PS you can right click on any locations in the library and select Remove to delete them should you wish.
