DF is now hovering at >1% CPU usage on both (with occasional spikes up to 1.5% CPU), RAM usage at around 55-60MB.
I can't think of anything that's changed - I'm performing similar tasks to yesterday.
Perhaps it was just an aberration...

My Mistake....
I forgot that I had turned off the DF taskbar and the toolbar switch buttons. Once I turned those on, the situation of high CPU resumed.
Monday morning and I have Outlook and an Access database open, my browser (Pale Moon) with several tabs open and the only thing above 2% CPU is DF, between 5-8%. This includes having Dropbox and BitTorrent Sync running in the background, which can chew CPU.

Hi, there

As this topic isn't too old and I am experiencing a similar issue, I thought to post here rather than open a new one.

I have DisplayFusion on 2 PCs - a laptop with an external monitor and a NUC hooked up to my TV.
Both PCs are running Windows 8 Pro (8.1 Update 1) and have Intel i5 processors and 8GB RAM.

With DF 6.0 I noticed that DF was using 8-12% CPU constantly on my laptop (2nd monitor with DF taskbar). On the NUC (one monitor, so no taskbar), it was at less than 1%.

DF 6.0.1 (beta 1) seemed to have somewhat solved this issue - it wasn't idling as low as I would have liked on the laptop, but it was a lot better.

However, the issue has resurfaced with DF 6.0.1 (beta 2) - on my laptop the CPU is again hovering at 8-12%.
When I turn off the taskbar and the switching buttons in the toolbars, it still hops around from 1-5-2.5 %, with spikes up to +5%

I use DF for wallpaper management, the 2nd taskbar and the toolbar switching buttons - should I expect this to impact the CPU so?

Just a heads up, not a major issue.

The other day I downloaded the update to v6.0, which seems to be working fairly well, however I noticed one issue with its CPU and memory usage. I noticed an unusually high idle CPU usage on my system (you know you run a tight ship when something higher than 1-2% draws attention), upon closer inspection DisplayFusion.exe was idling at around 2-3% CPU usage as I was watching it in task manager. An even more odd symptom was its memory use, it was all over the place, starting at about 60 MB it would climb to about 120 MB within a few seconds and then drop back to 60 MB and then start over. Every few seconds it would repeat this cycle while holding that CPU usage, presumably something was filling up until memory management kicked in and flushed it.

Obviously something was up, so being a computer tech myself I loaded up Process Monitor and started watching what DisplayFusion.exe was up to while this was going on. It didn't take long to track down an oddity, I have a copy of uTorrent (2.2.x) running which has a feature that shows the current speed in the title bar, since uTorrent is attached to the DHT network, there is always a 0.1-0.5 kB/sec idle chatter both ways that shows there. The frequency that it updates the title bar appears to be about twice a second, on a hunch I minimized the uTorrent window to the tray instead of the DisplayFusion task bar, which means no more idle network chatter showing on the title bar and DisplayFusion immediately leveled off to 0% CPU usage and stable memory usage. I then reopened the uTorrent window which caused DisplayFusion to immediately go back to idling high and memory thrashing. I then disabled the feature showing speeds in the title bar in uTorrent and DisplayFusion leveled off to 0% again with no memory thrashing.

So what I can take away from it is that DisplayFusion 6.0 may need some optimization for applications with rapidly changing title bar text. Disabling the program from frequently changing the title bar text is enough to smooth things out as a workaround for the time being. It doesn't cause any stability issues or error messages with either application, but given the unusual behavior of DisplayFusion it is probably doing something the developers weren't intending to happen.

Hope this helps.
