Related to this, I wonder would it be possible to include the old maximize behaviour as a setting in the advanced options or something when using Nvidia surround / Eyefinity? Or maybe add some app specific options for maximizing method? I really dislike the way Chrome hogs up extra space when it is not "properly" maximized. This is the only reason I have not updated past 7.3 beta 2...

I do understand that some applications misbehave when using the old method, but personally I haven't run into any of these applications, so it wouldn't matter for me.
Aha! I can indeed reproduce that. The issue is that Firefox has a weird titlebar. If you drag near the very top of Firefox (anywhere above the bottom of the caption buttons) it works, because this is actually the caption bar, so DF can detect it as a caption bar drag. If you grab the Firefox window in the area that's on the same level as the tabs (below the bottom of the caption buttons), it doesn't work.

I've put that on our list to see if there's anything we can do from our end to fix that up

Hi Keith,

regarding Issue 1 with Firefox, this seems to be caused by another (new) issues. It happens when the DF multi monitor drag logic does not work (fade screen and display 2.1 etc.). Then DF does not "recognize" the virtual screen where I drag the window to and therefore spans it over all. If the logic works (randomly), then maximizing to a single screen works nice. Sometimes when dragging windows, this is not recognized by DF and the screen selector does not appear. Can you confirm this?

Best regards
Hi Keith,

just updated to the latest stable release of DF, here the results of my tests:

1. Still not working for latest version of Firefox: Double clicking the title bar or dragging to another monitor pseudo-maximizes correctly, but dragging it to the top still spans over all 3 screens

2. Adobe Reader issue seems to be fixed

3. eM Client & Office fixed, StarMoney still not working.

4. Not yet working (maybe more feature request than bug?)

5. Not fixed yet

6. Unfortunately this issue still exists. I also found another issue regarding this function: It happens regularly that when I start dragging a window, this feature (fading the screen to black and displaying the display number 2.1 etc.) is not activated. I have to repeat the drag several times until it gets activated again...

7. Not a bug, will have to use smaller wallpaper
Hi Keith,

just tested this out yesterday. In general, it looks good, but where there is much light the shadow is deep Just kidding, but I found some (minor) issues that shold be adressed:

- The function does not work for Firefox, it is always spanned across all 3 screens (instead of the one it should be when being dragged to the top of the screen). Same seems also to be for StarMoney 9.0, always maximized.

- Adobe Reader is always placed on my left screen, even when I drag it to the top of the middle or right screen...

- Some programs struggle with this new function, i. e. switching between your simulated windowed and simulated "fullscreen" does not work. Programs I have identified so far:
* eM Client (clicking on the maximize/windowed button always maximizes instead of toggling, only double clicking the title bar works so far)
* StarMoney 9.0 (does it have its own logic for maximizing?)
* Office 2013 (behaviour: see eM Client)

- When using the "span window across all monitors" feature / title bar button, the window gets "maximized" to all screens, but then there's no way back to the former "windowed" size. Clicking on the maximize/windowed title bar button has no effect. It would probably be better if the old "windowed" size could be restored, at least this is what the user would expect.

- When dragging a window first to the top of a screen so that the screen is shadowed and the monitor number is displayed) and then between my 3 monitors 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 (from left to right), the window sometimes "jumps". Seems to have to do something with the bezel correction. When dragging it from right (2.3) to the middle (2.2), it jumps from 2.3 to 2.1 (left one) as soon as the mouse cursor reaches the "dead zone" between 2.2. and 2.3. When I continue dragging it to the left, it is moved to 2.2 as soon as I leave the bezel area and the mouse cursor is on 2.2... So summed up the issue is that the space between the monitors (bezel area) seems to be assigned to the left monitor and therefore the window jumps. It would be better if the bezel would always be assigned to a nearby monitor.

- When dragging a window first to the top of a screen, the screen is "shadowed" and the monitor number is displayed in big white letters. When I then start moving the winow quickly around my screens, the "shadow" effect is lost and it is just black with the white letter (2.1, 2.2 or 2.3). See attached images.

- I use the function to display my Eyefinity wallpaper also for the logon screen. However, there it has severe banding, seems like the wallpaper would not be displayed with the full color depth. Is the logon screen only 16 bit or sth. like that? After logging on, the wallpaper looks fine... Can make a screenshot if necessary...

All tests with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium and AMD Eyefinity setup.

Best regards

Stefan

Hello,

after a longer time, I'm back with some new feedback:

I'm still using an Eyefinity setup (3x1) with Win 7. Win 7 has the built in feature that if you drag a window to the upper edge of the desktop, the window gets maximized on the corresponding screen. This also works for your "simulated" monitors when using Eyefinity, but there is one problem:

Some time ago, you implemented a workaround for progs like oTunes & eM Client which do not use the default maximize routine, but it's own. You worked around this issue: to "maximize" the window, you have to double click the title bar, and double clicking again resizes the window back to ~75% (centered).

This mechanism does not work together with the Aero Snap function described above (as this always calls the maximize function). Therefore it would perfect if I would have a setting for the simulated screens in Eyefinity mode that Aero Snap does not lead to a maximize of the corresponding window, but only resizes it to 100%. The window would still be in "windowed" mode, but at 100%. Then the issue described above with some progs like iTunes etc. would not occur any more. StarMoney 9.0 for example does not work at all with Eyefinity, it is even maximized to all three monitors instead of one

Do you think this would be possible, maybe as Advanced configuration feature?
