When we implemented the fix, we only did it for the DisplayFusion taskbars. However, that definitely makes for an inconsistent experience, so we'll make it do the same on the Windows taskbar as well (move the mouse to the Start button).

As the OP of this topic I have obviously followed this with interest,
Despite a hiatus because of circumstances ,I've now caught up and tested the DF 5.1 release.

My findings are positive and don't present the problem that elbi reports.
Like elbi I updated from the 5.1 Beta 7 to the 5.1 release.

Primary screen:
Hitting Win key brings up the Start menu - cursor stays where it was (anywhere on the screen)
Clicking the Start button just brings up the Start menu -as per normal.

Secondary screen.
Hitting Win key is identical as for primary screen.
Clicking Start button brings up the Start menu - No jump to primary.

This was tested on a couple of older systems with XP SP2, XP SP3 as well as on Win7 SP1 HP - 64bit
and Win7 SP1 Ult -32.

I've upgraded from the 5.1 Beta 7 to the 5.1 release and it seems that the issue has come back.
On my main screen: if I hit the Windows key, the cursor jumps to the middle of the taskbar. The start menu appears as expected.
On secondary screens: if I hit the Windows key, the cursors jumps to that screen's Start button. The start menu appears as expected.

I used X-Mouse Controls on my setup to get the focus on windows while hovering them. Disabling X-Mouse fixes the cursor jumping issue, and re-enabling it causes the issue to occur again.

I was having this problem too, and it was driving me absolutely mad (still is, so please find some way to fix).

I think the issue has to do with your mouse focus settings. You probably adjusted them in the control panel to focus on whatever you're hovering over right? Well somehow this is messing with displayfusion's process of opening up a start menu in such a way that it is forced to re-focus your pointer.

I used this guide to adjust my mouse focus settings to act more like Ubuntu's X11 mouse focus via hover ones.

If you want to replicate this issue, install the most recent version of DF and follow that guide to the letter.

I would say "well, this is kinda our issue" but then again, the whole point of this program is for multi-monitor functionality. Mouse focus by hovering over a window is also very important (at least to me) when it comes to doing multi-monitor.

I have tested the first 4 of the betas and it's like elbi said:
It's fine with V5.0 beta 1,but subsequent betas have the "mouse jump" as is the case with v5.0 and v5.0.1

Keep in mind that this is on just XP SP3
My installs on Win 7 HP - 64 and Win 7 Ult -32 are fine with v5.0 and v5.0.1

Since the issue crops up on XP but now it seems also on Win 7 ,but sporadically ,it seems to me a combination of
a user issue and a DF issue.
Just my guess :)

It is clearly not a Windows Update issue, provided the issue arises on different Windows platforms. The problem is probably related to DF. Case in point:

Sorry to interject ,but,
As the OP of this thread I've been following this for a while and am surprised to see that this issue pops up on Win 7.

In post #15 of this thread , I mentioned this:

So far this symptom shows up on all my XP SP3 partitions ,except for a minimal (call it "nLited" ) install of XP SP3.
No mouse jumping there nor on Win7 HP or Ultimate.

I'm inclined to believe that it's either software related or Win Updates related. (Software other than DF)
I just updated DF from v5.0 to v5.01 on Win7 HP-64 and again no problems with it.

Just thought I'd mention it.

However for XP it's still the same mouse jump :(
