"because Windows maximizes applications about 8px past the edge of the screen"
I just had to test this, because it sounds like such an idiotic solution, but that seems to be exactly what Windows does.
I would've guessed that it would just set some "no borders" flag for the window when maximized, but no. The more you know..

In that case it is probably a tall order to get rid of the borders with splitting. Unless there's a way to crop the windows somehow, but that sounds like an operation which would either kill the performance, or is just not possible.

Well, thanks anyway!

@Jeopardy: The artifacting only seems to happen with some applications when using Aero Basic or Classic themes. It's technically an issue with those apps, though it's not noticed when not using splitting, because Windows maximizes applications about 8px past the edge of the screen, so that artifacty stuff is not visible. Joe's suggested solution may be the answer, but we're still investigating further.

Thanks guys!

I can confirm this issue on my triple monitor NVIDIA Surround setup as well, even with the new DisplayFusion 6.0.
Basically the first time Chrome opens it maximizes fine. I can put it into windowed mode and maximize it as many times as I want, and it works. However, once I minimize and then maximize the window two or three times, it will bleed over the edge by few pixels and stay that way until I close it. Visual Studio 2012 is experiencing very similar difficulties with its borders.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 with nearly all visual effects turned off, except for "Show window contents while dragging".

On a slightly unrelated question: I wonder would it be possible to remove those window border decorations when a window is maximized? Because if I turn off the NVIDIA Surround and switch these monitors into separate displays, those borders will not be there when maximized. See the attached image. I only wonder because that decoration is eating up space for absolutely no reason, and it looks rather ugly.

Thank you for your excellent work on DisplayFusion.

On Beta 11 now... still very inconsistent. Most of the time, when the Chrome window maximizes and looks good on that virtual monitor... the edge of the window spills over to the adjacent virtual monitor if there isn't a window already maximized there. Also, dragging the titlebar to the top edge for maximization, 50% of the time, still produces the original problem of that window edge being a graphical artifact.

If it is easier, just for Chrome windows, can you just put a solid border around the window when maximized? Perhaps a color picker to determine the border color, or dynamically sample the title bar color?

The maximization works as a function and feature, just the image looks bad. The border would look better and would really have only a minimal impact on functional space. So it is not as nice as maximizing a non-Chrome window, or a Chrome window on a non-virtual monitor space... but it would look fine.

Thanks for your continued development with this specific bug, you are not un-appreciated.

I can reproduce the fail.. by creating a new tab in Chrome, and dragging it out to the top of split monitor 1 and releasing it at the top edge. The window maximizes with the original problem.
I can reproduce the working fix.. by toggling maximization on other windows. But this is really

Regarding the tabbed browser question, they should be working fine with splits and Window Management. What issues are you running into?

As for splitting full screen video, it is indeed on our list, but at the moment, not possible to do as far as we can tell. However, we're planning to investigate further as it's something we'd definitely like to implement at some point

We keep our requests/to-do's as an internal list, so there's no public facing list of what we're working on. Sorry!
Two questions about what might be on your TO DO List:

Are you considering,
Support for tabbed browsers to be recognized like windows are, and thus subject to window management and split monitor boundaries?
True fullscreen emulation for split monitors. Maximize works bind window frames to the virtual screen, but when I maximize a flash video or media player fullscreen... it spans across?

Is there a web page that lists your TO DO items?
Thanks again.
