We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and iTunes and eM Client should now look correct when maximizing in a split. A couple of notes about this though:

eM Client will only do this new "fake maximized" method if you double-click the titlebar. For some reason, they're maximize button doesn't send the normal Windows messages, so we can't intercept it properly.

The maximize button won't have the maximized icon. This is because we're just sizing the window to 100% of the split, and not actually setting the window as maximized.

When restoring the window, it will always restore to 80% of split size, because there's no restored position to go back, due to the previous note above.

Thanks!
I'm not sure if we can fix this issue, but we'll see what we can do. Normally that area that looks messed up would actually be off the screen when maximized, but because we are constraining the window to a split, you can see that area. At any rate, I'll be sure to let you know if we're able to get it fixed up
Hi Keith,

also works good for me so far, however while testing the possibility to move around windows between the screens, I found two issues when working with maximized windows (before I only worked with non maximized windows by resizing and moving them around with shortcuts).

If I maximize "eM Client v6.0.21040" and "iTunes v12.0.1.26", they look really bad and the position is also not valid.

For iTunes, the maximized window is not located properly. top, so the actual upper left position is outside the visible desktop area (see attached screenshot, non-maximized vs. maximized).

eM Client also looks strange, I also attached a screenshot for this. It looks fine when windowed, but also here parts of the window are located outside the visible area when maximized.

Hope it is a generic root cause so that I do not have to test every installed program ^^ OS is Win 7 x64.

Best regards
I've been playing with Beta 6 for about the last hour and so far so good. The padding works. Windows maximize to the screen and not the virtual split behind the bezel so things don't get cut off.

While using Nvidia Surround in a bezel corrected resolution I have three fully VISIBLE and USABLE taskbars....PRAISE JEBUS!

So far it's stable too. I haven't dug too deep into it but I haven't had a crash yet, and that's a good sign. Actually, the only thing I've found so far that is curious is that if I drag windows from monitor to monitor quickly it stops displaying the desktop on that monitor and shows a black screen with the Displayfusion window number on it (1.1, 1.2, etc). This might have been there before in previous versions, but if it was I never noticed it. It's hardly a dealbreaker and if it's a tradeoff I have to make for asymmetrical splits I do so gladly.

As a final note Keith, while the padding was relatively straightforward to set up I did so with the benefit of your brief tutorial. I can envision it not being so easy for someone who doesn't have your instructions here on the forum as a guideline.

Finally, I cannot adequately express my gratitude to you guys for addressing this. Nvidia Surround is great for games, but it is a royal pain to live with on a daily basis and until now I toggled it on and off as needed, with all of the headache that doing so entails. With a little luck (and a little tweaking) I'm hoping that with this addition to DF I can just leave Surround activated all the time.

TLR .... you've made a customer very happy. Thanks a million!

Ok! DisplayFusion 7.0 Beta 6 is available, and we've added support for asymmetrical splits, and bezel corrected resolutions. In the Monitor Configuration window, hit the "Splits and Padding" button, and you'll get the window with all the configuration options for the splits. Here are some basic steps for bezel corrected resolutions to get you started:

Assuming you have three monitors, use the "Preset Splits" button to select the 3x1 option.

Click the "Show Preview" button.

Select each split, and set the "Width" and "Height" values to the actual resolution of your monitor (not the bezel corrected resolution).

Select the middle split, and using the "Left" box in the Location group, increase the value until you see the white line on the left side of the middle monitor.

Select the right split, and using the "Left" box in the Location group, increase the value until you see the white line on the left side of the middle monitor.

Verify that all three monitors have a white line on all four sides, then click OK, and OK again.

When you've had a chance to test it out, please let us know how it goes! We're looking for any feedback on functionality, as well as usability
Hi Keith,

if I look around the forum here, many many people are waiting for the bezel correction feature. I understand that this is on your list, and not with highest priority. But when I see what "features" are being integrated, things like a new wallpaper provider, a new wallpaper mode and so on, I really ask myself whether these little things really are more important than a correct window sizing feature in an Eyefinity setup which obviously more people than just me are waiting for.

I think DF is the best tool you can get for an Eyefinity-Setup so far, but the EF support is useless until it is not fully supported, because this bezel issue is really annoying in daily use. So therefore I again ask whether you can give us maybe at least some rough estimation how long we will have to hold on until we are delivered from our pain

Best regards
Unfortunately it's not quite that simple, as the monitor splitting feature is designed for more configurations than just Eyefinity/Surround. For example, you can split monitors that aren't part of an Eyefinity/Surround group, or you could split an Eyefinity/Surround group into unequal parts (i.e. 7 splits on a 3 monitor group). It's all of those kind of weird scenarios that make it difficult, and we just need to make sure we can spend the time and get it right for every possible scenario.

Rest assured that this is still planned, and we'll post an update when we break some ground on it.
Can you perhaps give some more info about the problem with this feature? Wouldn't it be sufficient to substract the original resolution (5760 x 1080) from the bezel resolution (in my case 5940 x 1080) to get the info how many pixels are used for the bezel correction? In my case this are 180 pixels, so each bezel has 90px. And these 90 pixels now need to be added taken into account when calculating the splitting information used for creating the "virtual" desktops?

Hi Keith,

still missing the bezel correction everytime I switch my desktop to Eyefinity for gaming, because I could stay with the Eyefinity if DF would take the bezel correction into account. However, as long as it is not supported, I always have to switch back to a single monitor profile after finishing gaming to be able to place the windows on my 3 monitors correctly.
Still no update on the bezel correction yet? <img src="https://www.displayfusion.com/MediaCommon/SVGs/FontAwesome/face-grimace.light.svg" alt="???" style="box-sizing:border-box;position:relative;overflow:hidden;vertical-align:middle !important;width:16px;height:16px;" HelpButtonData="???"

Hello,

I'm using DF for some time now and since today, I have an Eyefinity setup. DF offers the function to virtually divide the desktop back into the three original parts which is a killer feature in my opinion as it enables me to use maximize windows on different monitors which would not be possible otherwise!

But there is one issue which makes the feature less good: obviously, the bezel correction is not taken into account correctly when calculating the virtual monitors. This causes the virtual screen resolutions to be larger than the screen itself and on the sides, the content is "cut off" as it lies in the invisible (bezel) area between the screens.

Another problem is that DF does not "remember" if you have positioned a window on a certain virtual screen. If I e. g. start Paint.NRET, it always opens maximized over all three windows. If I then move it to the center, maximize it on the center and close it, the next time it again starts spanned over all 3 screens.

Are you aware of these issues? Are you planning to fix this soon? This would make DF the best solution to handle Eyefinity setups!

Best regards

Stefan
