There is a way to do this in two steps:

1. Create a desktop shortcut per this post from Keith a few years ago:
https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/wallpaper-pause-jumps-to-next-image-show-previous-image-pause/?ID=c6e4a313-8dc5-4242-a0ab-054b14f9ea17#37

2. Create a custom function that accesses this shortcut and give it a key combination such as "Shift + Ctrl + W" or whatever your favorite letter is.

This will open the image in Windows Explorer, and then you can just click the image there to open your default editor. You can also have the custom function display a title bar button you can click instead.

Not perfect, but Windows Explorer opens fast, unlike many photo editor programs.

I know this is a very old post, but my question is complimentary to it. I have just started using DF and am really liking it!

I see that when you right click on the Wallpaper image on Windows Desktop itself or on the DF Wallpaper Window there are some options to view the Image file. Could there be a new link to "Open Image on Viewer", so it can open on one's default viewer directly, be it Windows Photo Viewer, Irfan, Fast Stone...?

I say that because I put Paintings on the Wallpaper and sometimes want to take a closer look athe art and viewing on Browser is not so versatile and detailed, and opening the folder first, just creates another steps and consumes extra time if it is a big folder etc.

And, of course, if I am missing another way to do that already in DF, pls forgive me.

BTW Windows Position Profiles is godsend for dual monitors, I don't know why I didn't find it years ago...

THANKS!

Thanks, I installed v5.0 beta 9.

Opening the wallpaper window is faster, but "Show Image in Explorer" (double click) is extremely slow: the Explorer window appears immediately but I have to wait 30-40 seconds for the file to be selected inside the directory (the directory has thousands of image files in it). A green progression bar slowly goes up in the Explorer URL field while it seems to be looking for the file.

Why not display the path and file name of the wallpaper in the Wallpaper window, either as a tooltip when hovering the mouse over the image, or as an menu option when right clicking on it?

Hi,

Is there an immediate way to see the path/filename of the currently displayed wallpaper?

Going into Settings is surprisingly slow on my computer (10-15 seconds), and then clicking Troubleshooting is another 10 seconds. My random wallpapers rotate quickly and I would like a way to immediately see what is the image I am seeing (without having the text hardcoded on the wallpaper at all times).

If this is not possible right now, displaying the current wallpaper's path and filename in the right click tray icon > "Desktop Wallpaper Settings" submenu would be great.

Thanks.
