Previously my solution was:

Set the wallpaper configuration in DisplayFusion, watch it change then go black.
Right click Desktop -> Personalize
Click Desktop Background

You'll notice that the DisplayFusion wallpaper is not selected for some reason- if you select it everything works. I was running 5.x release at the time (late Oct), and went to whatever beta was available at the time to see if it was resolved (maybe beta 4 or 5).

I have been running 5.1.1 Beta 6 for a day or so and it has not fixed it.

The wallpaper shows up, but when it transitions to another image, the wallpaper then disappears and my background goes black (default color).

It happened since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (I think). Or it might be the beta 5 upgrade. You can fix it by turning off the transition animation.

In Display Fusion go to "Desktop Wallpaper", select "Wallpaper Settings" button located at the bottom of the window. Uncheck the option that says "Use Transitions when changing Wallpaper (Windows 7 and higher)".

This fixed the problem for me. I've upgraded to beta 5 and since, I'm having a problem with my wallpapers. Using different wallpaper for both monitor (problem also present when using same or span), the wallpaper would show on login. After logon, everything is fine until the first wallpaper refresh (and all next wallpaper change). I will see the fade in/out animation for the wallpaper change but once the animation is stopped, the screen become black.

Funny thing is, the Desktop Live Title properly show my background. Switching to a windows theme doesn't fix the issue. This bug appeared since I installed Beta 5 and wasn't present in the latest stable.

In windows personalization screen, it shows "Wallpaper_1" as wallpaper and black wallpaper, no image. If I switch for something else then DF, it work. ]]>
