I'm not sure if this is a DF problem but I'm coming here before turning anywhere else.

I have two monitors running at 1920x1080, with DF set to extend my desktop across both. On my primary (left) I have the task bar set to auto-hide.

This image shows how it should look - the icons are arranged how I like them on the primary display

If I turn the secondary (right) display off, my desktop gets re-ordered, like this:

When I turn the secondary display back ON, the icons will pop back to their original location EXCEPT the ones on the leftmost columns, which will sit one icon height below where they should:

(background image changed mid screen-shot taking, I highlighted the area they should start in for clarity)

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I am currently on DF Pro 7.1, using Windows 7 64 bit.

Edit: Update. With one monitor off, I tried to re-arrange the icons back to where I liked them, as if both monitors were on. Then, upon turning on the second one again, it all seemed ok, except the Control Panel icon and the Anarchy Online icon switched places. When I turned the secondary display off again, icons got shifted around again to different locations...

Windows likes to shift the icons around if the work area changes, because it changes the desktop icon grid size as well. There are a couple of things you can do. The easiest one is to arrange your icons, then right-click the desktop, and in the View menu, disable "Align icons to grid."

Alternatively, you can create Desktop Icon Profiles in DisplayFusion, and assign them to Monitor Profiles to be automatically loaded. Here are the steps to do that:
  • Setup your icons the way you want them
  • Right-click the DisplayFusion tray icon, navigate to Desktop Icons > Save Profile > New Profile and save the layout
  • Open the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration
  • Click the Save button and save your monitor layout as a new Monitor Profile
  • Click the Manage Monitor Profiles button, and in that window, assign your Desktop Icon Profile to the Monitor Profile

Hope that helps!

Thanks Keith - it looks like when I turn the second monitor off it still tries to redraw the first monitor as one display (I guess I only noticed this recently because my old 2nd monitor was VGA cable, this one is HDMI which is a bit...smarter) but nothing moved out of place.

Thanks!
