Hi there.

I've been having issues for a very long time with Clip Studio Pro. The basic issue was that the cursor for using my tablet would lag so badly you couldn't really use it.

After much stuffing around, I looked into it and discovered that having Display Fusion running was causing this. I've tried all of the compatibility options in Display Fusion, but none of them work. The only way I can get Clip Studio to run smoothly is to turn off Display Fusion completely.

Could you guys take a look into this please?

In the DisplayFusion Settings, if you click "Advanced Settings" at the bottom of the window, and enable the "Disable Application Hooks" setting (so that the hooks are disabled), does that make any difference at all?

Okay, I've given that a go.

Advanced Settings -> Disable Application Hooks: Works after restarting Displayfusion

Application Compatibility -> Disable Application Hooks: Doesn't work, even with restarting Displayfusion

Ok, interesting. Does Clip Studio have multiple .exe processes that run? For the Compatibility rule to work, you might need to add all of them to it, like this:

*process1.exe|*process2.exe|*process3.exe

Doesn't seem so. Even a detached window on the program points to the same executable.

Ok, could you grab a debug log for me?

  • Re-enable the Application Hooks in the Advanced Settings, but leave them disabled in the Compatibility rule
  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Sure thing. Log is attached, you're looking for a start time of 06:30:10.0828 (Line 999 on my end). The application is "C:\Program Files\CELSYS\CLIP STUDIO 1.5\CLIP STUDIO PAINT\CLIPStudioPaint.exe"

You'll notice another application called "C:\Program Files\CELSYS\CLIP STUDIO 1.5\CLIP STUDIO PAINT\CLIPStudio.exe". This is like a management application that gives news, shows some of my work, and can launch the other components.

Thanks! The log does indicate that the Compatibility rule is working, so that's good. Super strange that disabling the hooks globally is fine, but not disabling them for that app specifically.

If you close all other applications except for ClipStudio and DisplayFusion, does that make any difference? Just wondering if there's a different app that's getting hooked that might be contributing to the overall performance issues.

Right, closed a lot down and it seemed to be okay.
Rebooted the machine, still seems to be alright.

So I'm not sure when it's going to start having the issue again.

Ok, interesting! If it happens again, could you test the performance of ClipStudio each time you exit an application, to see if you can narrow it down to a specific one?
