I bought multiple "pro" licenses for an office. After replacing a few crashed computers and installing current versions of everything, I am now faced with a personal nag screen from Jon Tackabury, replete with pictures of dog and baby.

Is this new after version 3.2? That was the original base installation. Or did I install a personal version with a Pro license number? I thought they were the same installer.

DisplayFusion generates unique key #s for every license. That means I, as an admin, must track each of these. It's my job, but mistakes do happen. Sometimes a text file with serial numbers is not updated, or gets corrupted and has to be restored from an old backup. Copy-paste the wrong license number when doing remote tech support at 3am.

Showing a picture of a dog and baby, and calling my end user a thief? That's embarrassing to me.

It served it's purpose. It's ensured that both my user and my boss (who got a copy of the user's email) saw that I didn't do my best at tracking license numbers. It's ensured that I'm going to track down all the deployed license numbers.

And it's ensured that I'm going to revert the users to an older version to avoid this embarrassment again. Does anyone know that latest version that doesn't have this nag screen? I can't have this popping up again. It's unprofessional.

In the end, it's not my software, and I can't find an equal or better product. So I have to accept it as-is. I'm not sure how many pro/enterprise customers are out there, so maybe I'm the only inattentive admin being reprimanded for his inadequate professional skills.

Hi aleg,

I apologize deeply for this issue and hope that it doesn't cause you too much grief at work, as that is not our intention :(

Please send me an email at support@displayfusion.com with the license keys (and/or your company name) and I will look into it ASAP to see what's going on. I just want to double check to make sure there wasn't a mistake on our end.

Again, I'm very sorry if you've received this screen in error.

Thanks!

Keith,

Any word on which version does not have this version of a nag screen? I don't mind a nag. But in a corporate environment and a "pro" software package, I need it to be a little more professional.

I don't want users to think I'm pirating this software. It's useful, and still a bargain at twice the price. I appreciate the lifetime license. But I can't afford for future upgrades to have more embarrassing surprises.

Regards,
Al

We've found the issue and it was on our end. I apologize again for any inconvenience caused by this. We've fixed it up and we're making some changes to ensure that this will not happen again in the future.

The nag screen has been in DisplayFusion for a while, but if you disable the auto-update checks, you will not receive the nag screen, as the key is only checked against our server during automatic update checks.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!
