I don't know if I'm missing something, but many of my programs insist on opening on my primary monitor when DF is running on windows 7. If it isn't running, they open where they were closed. Examples are Chrome, Firefox, and Process Lasso. I have no applications in the Window Location list and Enable Window Location is not checked.

This is very annoying. Is there a setting I need to turn on/off?

The log attached was turned on just before opening Chrome and having open in its previous location, then move to my primary monitor.

I think I'm having a related problem - I DO have applications in the Windows Location list, and it ISN'T forcing them to open in specified locations. Any ideas for either problem?!

@Andrew - I now recall having the same problem, however it happened when I noticed that what I thought was a poorly designed app was always opening on the primary monitor. I set it to open on my fourth monitor, but that never worked. Weeks later, I realized there were a lot of malfunctioning apps, or really, not any. It was DF. My own app, which does a SetWindowPos after a long initialization, wasn't affected. That was probably just accidental. Were it faster, maybe it would have been affected. Yes, definitely related in my experience.

Could you guys try disabling the "Launch Start menu shortcuts on current monitor" option on the Settings > Taskbar tab to see if that helps?

Keith,

That fixed the behavior for Chrome and Firefox. They now reopen on the correct monitor. Process Lasso and Thunderbird continue to misbehave, however, and open only on the primary monitor.

I've done some testing with Process Lasso and Thunderbird without DisplayFusion running, and here's what I've found:

Process Lasso always opens the window in the top-left corner of the primary monitor on first launch, regardless of where it was when it was last closed. When opened from the notification area icon while it's still running, it seems to remember the window position correctly.
With Thunderbird, if the window is maximized and then moved to the other monitor while still maximized before closing, it will re-open in the old position when launched again. Tested by doing the following: Exit DisplayFusion, open Thunderbird and maximize, use Win + Shift + Left or Right Arrow (this is a Windows shortcut) to move it to the other monitor, close, then reopen.

Are these the behaviours you're seeing with those two programs?

Correct. And without DF, it launches on the proper monitor.

Pretty much. Sounds like some pretty interesting move-window monitoring is going on there...!

Ok, interesting! I saw that behaviour with Process Lasso (always opening on primary screen) even with DisplayFusion closed. Would you be able to capture a video of it happening with DisplayFusion running? Just wondering if I'm not testing it the same way as you are.

Regarding Thunderbird, those issues happen without DisplayFusion running as well, so unfortunately there isn't anything we can do there
