The Display Fusion app has high single thread usage even when idle on desktop (screenshot). Which causes stuttering in game.
I must quit and relaunch the app for the issue to go away. The issue reoccurs again.
Seems to happen after a gaming session, will need to test more to determine if other tasks trigger this issue.
I have also "Reset All Settings to Default"
Anyone else have experienced this or have any suggestions? Let me know if you need more info. Thanks!

Witcher 3 and Fortnite, so far.

Update (5/9/23): Used system for browsing, no gaming session, and the issue occurred again.
Next step: Reset All Settings to Default > enable L3 logging > restart system > leave system idle for the ~day > export logs and attach.

Could you send me over a copy of your troubleshooting info after you've reset your setting to default, and let me know if the issue persists? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

File attached.

Update: I left the system idle for ~10 hours (performed "Next step:" in post #3 and left system). No issue with CPU usage when I checked.
Launched Chrome to check this discussion, now the single CPU thread is stuck at ~half utilization and the DF process is using ~5% CPU (screenshots).
With the original post, DF was using ~10% CPU.

Update 2 (1 hour elapsed): Left system idle after posting. The issue progressing to the original posted issue ( (new screenshots)

Update 3 (1 hour elapsed since update 2) Watched YouTube for an hour (screenshots)

Update: Seems like the issue is caused when waking computer from sleep. Maybe display adapters initializing is causing the issue? I will test and verify that the issue occurs with no input and just waking system from sleep.

Update 2: tested theory.
Restarted system > let it go to sleep > woke up system ~4 times over a 10 hour period. The issue reoccurs.

Next step: test with a fresh Windows 11 install, when I get a chance.

Interesting, could you disable your DisplayFusion taskbars, and see if the issue persists after waking from sleep?

Issue does not occur with DisplayFusion taskbars disabled.
The taskbars is the only feature I use as of now, I'm a new user and discovering all the features of the application.
Is there a resolution or workaround?

Update: When the issue occurs, the taskbar on the second monitor becomes unresponsive and application icons flash. Unable to click on the Windows start menu or other items on the taskbar.
Any update on the issue? Do I need to wait for an update for a fix?

Seeing the same here as well, CPU usage settles in pretty solid at 12-16% and icons in the second monitor start flashing and become unresponsive. Getting pretty frustrated with it, I am running the beta 3 on Windows 11 version 22H2 OS Build 22621.1702

I am beyond frustrated with the v10.x release. In all the years I have been using DisplayFusion, I have never seen such a problematic update from them.
I miss running DisplayFusion but I can't use it anymore until the CPU usage problem is fixed.
Eagerly awaing the next beta to see if it improves.

Owen, I already sent over my troubleshooting info in this thread:

https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/100-is-killing-pc-performance/?ID=d1ff082c-3066-4cd4-8289-a1219f32795c

Waiting on the next beta to see if the problem is resolved. Beta 3 did not fix it.

Installed Steam version > updated to 10.1-Beta3 > "Reset All Settings to Default" > enabled L1 log > exported after ~30 min: file attached.

Update: Looks like the issue is persisting (screenshots)

Flashing Icons seems to be better and CPU usage with Beta 4, but now DF crashes and I have to restart it. Seeing this in the application event log.

"The program DisplayFusion.exe version 10.0.99.104 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel."

I will test and let you know.
Just wondering, what should be the average CPU usage?

Update: Tested and looks like the issue is persisting...

@JSF If you head to C:\Users\(YourUser)\AppData\Local\CrashDumps, is there anything listed for DisplayFusion? If so, could you send over the latest one?

@BundD Thanks for sending that updated log over, I'll pass it over to our developers to have a look into.

The CPU usage depends on your system, and which features in DisplayFusion are enabled. A bit of usage is expected as DisplayFusion uses background polling to keep it's features updated, but 8.3% is a bit high

Thanks for the update. The only setting I change is: Taskbar > Taskbar Mode > All taskbars show all windows.

If you have the DisplayFusion taskbars enabled, but all 3 hooks disabled in the advanced settings (Polling, Application, and Shell), does the issue persist after a reboot?

Tested with all 3 hooks disabled: no issue.
Tested with Shell enabled: no issue.
Tested with Shell and Polling enabled: no issue.
With just the Application hook enabled: issue reoccurs.
