I have a triple monitor setup and I like to have the main Steam window on my first monitor, and the friends list and chat windows on the second. Every now and then, either Steam or Windows likes to play with their positions and sizes, and it drives me nuts. I'm already using DisplayFusion to hold other programs in position, but how do I do the same for multiple windows within Steam?

From the brief amount of playing around I've done it seems to be classifying it by program, though I didn't select the .exe or anything. I tried Windows Class, but haven't tried the other options yet. Obviously going by .exe is not ideal. Trying Windows Class, it kept the friends list and chat windows in place, but then it also tried to do the same to the main Steam window which is of course, not what I want.

How do I go about this? Thanking you kindly in advance :)

If you create a Window Position Profile with those windows open, are all 3 match conditions the same when it saves?

The main window has "Steam" as the window text and the friends list has "Friends List" as the window text. Unfortunately, each chat window will have their window text as the name of your friend. You won't be able to split this off without creating a rule for every friend.

While you could purposely order your triggers and use "Stop processing triggers if this one matches" to have a catch-all trigger for chat windows... you would have to create triggers for every possible standard Steam window, like settings, announcements, possibly notifications, etc.

Ah I see, thanks for that. Shame but you can't expect it to do everything!
