I use my Win10 laptop with 2 different docking stations (each with 2 monitors). I have been setting up pinned shortcuts and noticed when I start my laptop on each dock the taskbar settings are managed independently (i.e a shortcut I create on one dock does not appear when I start my PC connected to the other dock).

However, I don't seem to see any profiles created in DF. Why is this? I would have thought my DF taskbar settings would be persistent across both. I've attached my settings file. Thanks.

The taskbar settings are stored by monitor ID. Could you send me two copies of the DisplayFusion Troubleshooting info, one from each docking station?

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Files attached. Interestingly I seemed to have lost the shortucts I created on Dock 2 originally and it seems the ones created on Dock 1 are persistent.

Thanks! It does look like the monitor IDs get swapped on the docks, so that would be causing the inconsistent behaviour. In the backup that you included in your original post, I'm not seeing any configured shortcuts at all. Could you export your settings again and attach them?

Thanks, I can see the shortcuts now! How often do you add/edit the shortcuts on the taskbar? I can write up some instructions on how to export the settings from the one monitor ID and restore them for the other monitor ID so that you can do that any time you updates some shortcuts if you like?

Thanks Keith. I am still making edits across both so if there is an easy way to keep them in sync that would be helpful. No rush though!

Ok no worries, I'll hopefully have something for you tomorrow :)

Ok, give this a try:
  • Backup your DisplayFusion Settings (Settings > Options > Export), just to be safe :)
  • Save and extract the attached script somewhere on your system.
  • At a command prompt, run:
    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass C:\path\to\script\CopyTaskbarSettingsToAnotherMonitor.ps1
  • You'll be prompted for the source and target monitor ID. The source is the ID of the monitor that you changed the taskbar settings on (e.g. if the DF taskbar is currently on monitor 2, and you change a setting on it, then enter 2 as the source). The destination is the ID of the other monitor (e.g. 1).

Hope that helps!
