I recently upgraded from 3.4.1 to 3.5 Beta 5, all of my settings were imported during installation - the new features are just great! Good job there! :)

Unfortunately there is a small issue when moving maximized windows using CTRL+WIN+X and CTRL+WIN+W. Everytime you move a maximized window ( notice: "Enable maximized window dragging between monitors" is enabled under "Window Management" ), the window will not be moved, instead the window will be spanned across all monitors.

I thought there were duplicate mappings as I normally use CTRL+WIN+X, but the same issue is also presented when using CTRL+WIN+W. So, well, I unmapped the hotkey "Span Window Across all Monitors" but it still doesn't work as intended.

Previous versions of DF and non-maximized windows were not affected by this issue.

Best regards

I've just tested this out, and it seems to be working ok for me. Does it only happen with specific programs?

Thanks!

I can reproduce it with Google Chrome v19.0.1041.0, Windows Live Mail, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft Expression Blend, NetBeans 7.1 and VLC 2.0.

Some programs, for example the Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer or Steam are working fine, but most of my applications will be spanned across all monitors.

Strange! I can't seem to reproduce the issue with 3.5 Beta 5. Could you try downgrading to 3.4.1 to see if the issue goes away?

Thanks!

Yep, 3.4.1 does not have any problems when I move my windows around. So, any ideas ?

Hmmm, I think I fixed the error by just rebooting my system :D

Normally my PC runs 24/7, but I had to reboot because of Windows Updates. After rebooting I also updated my Chrome ( new build arrived the Dev-Channel ) - it looks like it is fixed by itself. Also Visual Studio and all my other programs don't longer span across all my monitors.

Yay! :)

Keith, I have bad news, the bug just came back :S

I was watching a video (to be exact, this one: http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/windowsazure/learn/Keynote-Getting-Started-with-Windows-Azure) and still had Google Chrome on my center screen, so I separated the tab which was hosting the video and tried to move the other window to my right screen using the DisplayFusion hotkey. Unfortunately the window didn't move, instead it was maximizing again all over my monitors. The hotkey for maximizing the window across all monitors is still unbound!

I'm still using Google Chrome 19.0.1055.1 dev-m and hadn't had any issues since I restarted my computer again due some application setups ( Visual Studio 11 and some SDKs ).

The bug occurs once again in plenty of applications, all running in fullscreen ( windowed/non-maximized applications are not affected ), like Google Chrome, Visual Studio 2010 and 11, Caphyon Advanced Installer, Windows Live Mail and so on... It's kinda annoying when moving windows don't work as expected :)

Even after restarting DisplayFusion the problem is still presented. For testing purpose I let all applications running over the night until you advice me anything else :) The troubleshoot logfile can be found at http://www.blackcorestudios.de/DF%20debug.txt

Oh, I should mention that moving Internet Explorer 9, Windows Explorer or some native Windows-Dialogs like the "Save File as"-Dialog are NOT affected by this issue.

Could you enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to "Logging: Important Only"), and then try to move the Chrome window? If the issue occurs, please attach the debug log and note the time it occurred so I know where to look in the log :)

Thanks!

Check the attachment :)

It occurred right after enabling the log, moved the window a couple of times ( 7x or 8x ? ) around, then I immediately uploaded the log.

Awesome, thanks! Could you also attach a screenshot of what the Chrome window looks like when it's broken?

Thanks!

Sure!

Don't worry, I've got the application buttons disabled so it looks not that special at all :)

After 3 looks at the screenshot I noticed there is a weird black box around my Chrome content area, which is NOT a application in the background. Actually I'm not sure what it is ? Is it part of DisplayFusion ? When I try to resize Chrome to look like the stretched/spanned window shown in the screen I never get that box.
So... any idea ?

At the moment, I'm stumped :)

When you hit CTRL+ALT+X to move it to the next monitor, does it first move correctly, and then span after that?

Uhm, it just spans the window across all monitors instead of moving + maximizing.

I can also take a video if you want to :)

Sorry for the bad encoding but I tried ~5 screen capture tools and NONE of them was able to handle 5040x1050 or a bit smaller. Everything >1280x1024 produced a memory error.... ( damn 32bit shit :S ). The video is lagging as hell, I know, but I hope it shows a bit of the error.

Weird! So let's make sure I understood the video correctly :)

You were using the CTRL+WIN+X and CTRL+WIN+W HotKeys, it looks like the window moved correctly a bunch of times, and then one time it just spanned, instead of moving?

Yep, exact. And when it spans windows it only spans maximized windows, and only non-Windows ( like Windows Explorer ) windows :)

Ok, thanks! I haven't been able to reproduce it here but we're going to look into it and I'll be sure to post an update as soon as we find anything out.

The bug was persistent, even after rebooting, till Beta 9 - in Beta 10 I haven't run into this issue yet.

I'm spamming the hotkeys like a jerk and it's working flawlessly :)

DsplayFusion is one master-piece of software that really improves with every patch - just awesome!
