I've been using dual monitors in Windows for a long time without any third-party tools. Yet, I came to a conclusion, it's worth to give a try some specific software to manage it and I've installed DF.

Since then I've been experiencing problems - selected application windows that used to open on my main display (e.g. Firefox) suddenly started to open on my second monitor. I tried to make some order and added them to "Window location" feature but it only works partially - when starting up a program it works fine, but when a new window is opened from within the program (like FF new windows) it gets opened on the second monitor! I've tried moving programs to the main screen, closing them and re-opening but they simply cannot remember the right monitor.

Another weird problem is that some programs options (e.g. Direct Folders) open on the second monitor, even though the main program is run on a primary monitor. The same applies to selected Windows features - e.g. confirmation of emptying a Recycle Bin.

The major problem is that disabling / exiting DF doesn't help - all described problems keep occurring. What can I do to reduce this mess?

My OS is Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and I use DF 5.1.

Thanks for trying out DisplayFusion!

Windows itself should be remembering the last closed position, especially if DisplayFusion isn't running. At any rate, you could setup a Window Location rule like the one shown in the attached screenshot. That will force all new windows to open on the monitor where your mouse cursor is, so that no matter how you launch the program or a new window, it will always go to the monitor that you're currently working on :)

Hope that helps!

Great! I will try this combination and report later whether it works.

I've also noticed that turning off the second screen and re-enabling it again helps. However I made this exercise with no DF running.
