No matter what I try, I can't get DF to start up automatically when I log on.
Beyond all other issues that I've been hammering out through a combination of Windows and Nvidia settings, this is the one I can't fix.

Attempted:
-Disabling & re-enabling startup option in Task Manager
-Adding to Startup folder in Programs from the Start Menu
-Uninstalling & reinstalling

Nothing so far works. I have to manually start DF after logging in.

It's still there in the Startup tab of the Task Manager with "Startup impact" still reading "Not measured" as it hasn't had a chance to run with the startup yet since the update.

Could you try right-clicking the DisplayFusion.exe in the Program Files folder, choose Properties, and then check the Compatibility tab to see if there are any Compatibility options set? If DisplayFusion.exe is set to run as administrator for whatever reason, then it won't launch at startup (all programs are like this if set to run as administrator).

If there are no Compatibility options set, please let me know and we'll go from there.

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

The only way I could get DF to run at boot-time was to put a shortcut in the Startup Folder.

Running Windows 8.1 x64. Just changed motherboards when this problem began.
(Incidentally, the Avira tray icon had the same problem.)

Interesting! There shouldn't really be any difference between it being in the Startup folder or in the HKCU\..\Run registry key, so I'm not sure what could be going on there. Glad to hear you found a workaround though!

Hi Keith,

I didn't remove the registry entry. Do you think there might be a problem with it being called twice? Will DF run two instances without my knowing?

Nah, there's no issue there. DisplayFusion checks if there's already an instance running before it tries to start everything up :)

I am having a similar issue; running 8.1 on a Parallels VM. Only way I could get it to startup is to put a shortcut in the start-up folder. Noticed there was a DisplayFusion.exe.config file in \Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion\

Happy to help troubleshoot to resolve this, very annoying.

@17ND: Does your DisplayFusion.exe or any of its shortcuts have any of the options on the Properties > Compatibility tab enabled?

Hi Keith,

No, no compatibility options are checked on either the DisplayFusion.exe in C:\Program Files\... .exe or the Start-Up (shortcut to the exe)

Ok, did your issue occur after upgrading to Windows 8.1? Or was it a fresh install of Windows 8.1?

Hi Keith,

It was a fresh install of 8.1, on a Parallels VM

If you re-install DisplayFusion using the following command line, does that make any difference?

DisplayFusionSetup-7.1.exe /VERYSILENT /STARTUPALL=1

Hi Keith,

That does seem to have worked. It didn't work from the run box, but it was fine from a command line. One reboot and it started as expected. I'll come back if it stops.

Thanks for the help.
