Specifically, I like the customization and jump list options in the DF taskbar, anyway I can use that on my main monitor? Is it an option I missed?

Not at the moment unfortunately, but it's on our feature request list. If we're able to implement it in the future, we'll be sure to post an update :)

In the meantime, you can sort of do it by enabling the "Taskbar > Show on all monitors" option in the Advanced Settings, and then moving the Windows taskbar to a different side of the monitor and setting it to auto-hide.

Thanks!

Oh, ha actually that works perfectly! I have the windows bar hidden on the bottom, and the DF bar actually jumps in front of it, so even if I move my mouse to the bottom, the windows bar doesn't pop up. Awesome! Thank you so much.

Ok, I've found a workaround for replacing the Windows taskbar with the DisplayFusion one, if anyone wants to try it out :)
  • Download Taskbar-Magic and extract it to a folder somewhere: https://www.dropbox.com/s/480hjn1n0thpl3j/Taskbar-Magic.zip (this is a third-party app that I grabbed here: http://rocketdock.com/addon/misc/3425, but my version has a couple of settings changed in the .ini file to make it work correctly)
  • Set your Windows taskbar to auto-hide (this step is very important)
  • Run Taskbar-Magic.exe
  • In the DisplayFusion Settings > Advanced Settings window, enable the "Taskbars > Show Taskbar on all monitors" option
  • If everything works correctly, make sure to add Taskbar-Magic.exe to your startup, so that it loads when Windows boots up
If you get a chance to try that out, please let me know how it works out :)

Thanks Keith!

It does work for me exactly how you said :) nice workaround.

only thing for me is, and this is just in my special case (not really worth mentioning as everyone's going to have a different setup), but for me when my eyefinity display is primary I don't run a task bar, instead I'm running Stardocks tiles with Obeject dock where the taskbar normally is. Because Stardocks stuff doesn't support profiles, or multi monitor my other two monitor profiles unload my Stardock programs. So I go back and forth between needing (ok wanting lol) two taskbars and three taskbars.

regardless, nice workaround.... I'm going to spend some more time thinking about this. maybe I can make it work somehow either thru displayfusions flexibility or autoit placing windows... or just give up on stardock once and for all.

@ Michelle, I run Stardock Objectdock (paid version) on my 3 monitors without issue.

There is a multimonitor setting in version 2.10.0.811 listed under the home tab, in the individual dock settings, in the position setting which allows you to select which monitor you wish for your dock to appear.

Granted, I'm not a gamer, I use NVidia cards, and don't experience some of the issues that some Eyefinity users experience, but my docks load on start-up and don't change locations. Objectdock has never had an issue.

Regards;

Sarris

Thanks for that, working perfectly except one little thing:
If I play a game on borderless window (or however that's called) the taskbar just vanishes and I see a bit of the game instead of it. Is there any (easy) workaround for that, does anyone know?

When that happens, can you check the Settings > Troubleshooting tab, in the Fullscreen Applications section to see if your borderless game is detected as a full screen app?

Oh, I'm sorry, just re-red my reply, wrote it a wrong I think. I mean, if I tab out of the game (Alt+Tab), the taskbar is not there anymore but I can see the game through it.

And yes, it is seen as a fullscreen application:
FullScreen Applications [1]
• 0x000307d6 ~ {X=0,Y=0,Width=1920,Height=1080} ~ FillsOneMonitorWindow ~ "Garry's Mod" ~ "Valve001" ~ "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\hl2.exe"

That's how it looks, when I tab out:
http://puu.sh/d4LLm/3462245081.jpg

OK, I think it's a "bug" (or maybe a feature?) of the Taskbar-Magic because when I move my mouse to the far bottom, the windows taskbar comes up but without the windows circle thingy oO You can also see a bit of the taskbar...
Pretty sure I haven't had this issue yesterday, restarting computer, maybe just a strange glitch or something.

Edit: OK, looks like it didn't execute Taskbar-Magic, don't know why...
Now, when writing the edit it came up randomly again when I moved my mouse to the bottom but was instantly gone again..
Edit2: Just read the readme of Taskbar-Magic, the 2nd thing is a known bug there it says:
"Known bugs
[...]
-Sometimes the taskbar likes to come back (like if you invoke the start menu), just wait <2.5 seconds, and my program will hide it again"

Could you check to see if the following options are enabled on the DisplayFusion Settings > Taskbar tab?
  • Show taskbar in front of full screen applications when they lose focus
  • Allow taskbar reloading when a full screen application is running

Oh, that fixed it. Thanks for this nice support and the nice program(s) :)

Edit: Now I know why I haven't turned it on before: It now shows the taskbar everytime I go on my 2nd monitor, which isn't pretty nice when watching a YouTube video or a stream or something like that. Is there any option in the compatibility tab for that I just don't see?^^

You might be able to disable the "Show taskbar in front of full screen" option actually. I think it's the "Allow taskbar reloading while full screen" option that fixed the issue for you.

Oh yeah, just was too stupid to find the "Show taskbar in front of full screen when they lose focus" setting, thanks :D

Edit: OK, it did not fix it :D It now doesn't show up infront of the game anymore when I click on 2nd monitor but when I tab out it's still not there. I have taskbar refreshing activated (same problem without this setting btw)

Ah ok. You'll have to leave the "Show taskbar in front of full screen" option enabled then. There isn't currently a way to have that option work for certain programs but not others, but I can definitely add that to our feature request list. If we're able to implement it in the future, I'll be sure to let you know!

Is there still no way to get rid of the Windows Taskbar with DisplayFusion?

I'm on Windows 10, and would prefer to have all 3 of my taskbars be DF ones (kinda annoying to have a zombie OS one stuffed somewhere on one of my screens)

You can do it right now using the steps in post #6 above.

And we'll be sure to post an update if/when we're able to include a native option in DisplayFusion for replacing the Windows taskbar with the DisplayFusion taskbar.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply :-)

The posts above were pretty old, so wasn't sure if there was any updated suggestions. I'll go ahead and try out the steps in #6 now

Are you guys working on this type update or sticking with your workaround? I just bought this and would really like it to work as it is intended to, which is control the display for a multiple monitor setup.

Still working on it! It still needs quite a bit of work and testing to make it reliable, so no ETA as of yet, sorry.

The workaround works, as long as you don't click on start or on the icons, because the window's taskbar will pop up, but if you have shortcuts it won't. It works for now, but really hoping that you will be able to get this soon.

I found another solution (@Keith's did not work for me - Win 10)
1. Use some software to hide windows taskbar (for example Taskbar Magic). Change in ini file - allocate to 0.
2. Split main display (In Monitor configuration)
3. Split horizontalaly: First cell full width, full height. Second cell full width - 5px, full height. If something went wrong try more with spliting
You will get DF taskbar :)

ADD +1 for this function (I was looking for it - to be default in DF - discovered in this post it is not)

@100 I don't get your solution ... more details please ?

#6 It's near 20 years I use "TaskBar Activate" so I don't feel so keen using another prog, but I will check the suggested one.

Check on screen.
If you follow those steps you will get multiple taskbars on main display.
Only thing you need is to hide windows taskbar. You can achieve this by Magic Taskbar as described previously.

Alt-tab doesn't work, neither do programs appear on the taskbar.

Settings > Advanced Settings > "Show on All Monitors" Set to "Taskbars are shown on all monitors". Then set use Taskbar-Magic https://www.dropbox.com/s/480hjn1n0thpl3j/Taskbar-Magic.zip to hide the default Windows Taskbar at startup.

6 years and this features hasn't been added? What's the point of making taskbar options such as "show taskbar in front of full screen epplications when they lose focus" if it doesn't work for the main window? As it is now if I play a fullscreen video on my main monitor and want to browse the web on another I don't want the taskbar going over the video. This seems like a windows problem but this feature would fix it.

@Ozfer: Replacing the Windows taskbar with the DF taskbar isn't without its own issues, so it may solve one problem, but at the moment will create other issues. When we can get it working reliably, we will release it publicly.

Thanks!

Sorry for necro this post, but I really love DF taskbar. I followed the post #6 and able to set the DF taskbar on all monitors but I encounter a problem. The problem is I cant bring up the windows start menu by click on the the windows start icon (with mouse).

note : I still able to bring the menu up by pressing the windows key on keyboard.

I think the Taskbar Magic also hide the Start menu as well, since all back to normal when I restart my computer. I also some experiment by toggle auto-hide windows taskbar also activate "show taskbar on all monitor". When I do that if I click the start menu on my second monitor, the menu shows up on my primary monitor (Top Left corner since I put taskbar on left side on my second monitor). When I turn off the the autohide then it all back to normal but I have 2 stack of .

Add +1 for this function

note: I see it still missing language switch for typing (eq:Eng->Jap) maybe with option on primary monitor or all monitors.

Thank you. :)
