I am having issues with this feature on my desktop setup. Everything goes black, but no video plays. My monitors are 2 on top and 2 on bottom. I'm trying to play mp4 format, both large and small files.

If you haven't already, could you try installing the CCCP codec pack?

Ditto for me too, but this is for the screensaver using my desktop PICTS. Screens goes black, but nothing after that. Wallpaper works fine, just not screensaver. Any suggestions?

Also can you walk me through the video wallpaper process? I have not tired this yet.

Windows 10 preview build 14372 16 GB RAM.

I installed that, and still only have the black background show up with no video overlay.

Can I try something else?

@john

You have to be on the Beta version of Display Fusion. You can allow for this in your settings.

To enable your video wallpaper: Right click desktop, choose Display Fusion > Desktop Wallpaper. Under wallpaper source, change the source to "my videos". When you do this it should ask you to point to a video to use as a wallpaper. If it doesn't you can click load video to make a selection. Then hit apply/ok and you SHOULD have a video wallpaper.

Thanks for the info. I found the settings and applied them, but got the same results you did: no video overlay.

Perhaps displayfusion support can offer some insight.

Also, I too have a four monitor configuration with no screensaver function with my PICTS.

Need suport!

Thanks!

@John: Just to double-check, have you installed the CCCP Codec Pack as well?

@Waddell: Do you have just one monitor configured to use the My Videos wallpaper?

Hey Keith,

That seemed to do it. Working now with the video overlay. Very cool!

Now everything is working again, including the Displayfusion Photo screensaver with my PICTS.

Thanks!

@John: Glad to hear it!

@Waddell: How big is the video file you're trying? Would you be able to attach it here so that I can test it out?

Here's one. The other one is much too large.

Thanks Waddell! It didn't work for me in a fresh Windows 7 test machine, but after installing the CCCP codec pack it worked right away. This was using the "Different image for each monitor" mode. Could you send over a debug log? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Set the video as the wallpaper and apply the settings
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

I don't see DebugInfo.html in the folder I was directed to. Also, on the troubleshooting tab, I see "Error: Result is invalid." on the dialog window.

I made sure to reinstall CCCP and reboot. This did not solve my issues. I tried it on one monitor at a time, and the one monitor went black and the other 3 went grey.

Let me know what I can do next to help solve the issue.

Ok, couple more questions:
  • Is your Windows 7 installation fully up to date with all Windows Updates?
  • Could you backup your settings (Settings > Options > Export) and attach them?

Thanks!

Windows should be up to date. I've attached the settings.

Thanks! Unfortunately we're going to have to make the video and website wallpaper sources Windows 8+ only. We've spent days trying to get it to work properly in Windows 7 without luck. Whenever we fix one issue with it, we end up causing another issue. If we're able to get it working reliably in the future, we'll definitely add it back in for Windows 7 :)
