I sometimes notice ALT+TAB doesn't work properly when I switch between windows. I finally tracked it down to an issue with the emoji popup in Windows 10.

With the shortcut WIN+PERIOD you can open the emoji popup anywhere, but once the popup is opened the ALT+TAB list contains an entry called Microsoft Text Input Application that messed up the order. (I verified the entry is there using CTRL+ALT+TAB to keep the ALT+TAB list open.)

I haven't updated to the latest Beta 10 version since it uses more memory than 9.9 (link).

We've just fixed up an issue with AltTab in the latest beta, can you try it out and let me know if it fixes this up for you?

I'll give it a try later. Hopefully the latest beta fixes also the double memory problem.

Just tested with v10 stable, the extra Microsoft Text Input Application entry is still there.

I can reproduce the "Microsoft Text Input Application" entry, is it just shifting your alt tab entries by 1 to compensate for that window, or is it shuffling everything?

It is placed randomly. Often it's in 2nd place, but while I tested using the textarea for this reply right now it was placed in 7th position (out of 12 entries in CTRL+ALT+TAB).

However, it doesn't really matter in which position it appears though, the "correct fix" for me would be to completely skip that entry from appearing in the ALT+TAB selection when using the emoji popup.

If you turn on "Hide Windows Metro Apps form Alt+Tab" in the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings, does this entry still appear?

Yes, it's still there.

I've also updated to v10.0.1, Beta 1 because of the fix for third-party Start menu replacements.

Strange, it persists after restarting DisplayFusion as well?

Updated to v10.1, Beta 2.

Restarting DisplayFusion after changing the setting does indeed seem to work.

I'd still like to keep the setting disabled and have that "phantom" Microsoft Text Input Application entry excluded from the list, though. 🙄

We've released a new beta with some changes that might help here, can you try it out and let me know if the issue persists?

I had a little time to test now, and it seems to be fixed even after I disabled the advanced setting and restarted DF.

However, I didn't test that much since I reverted back to Beta 2. Beta 3 breaks the Taskbar > Taskbar Mode > All taskbars show relevant windows setting: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/displayfusion-101-beta-3-now-available/?ID=ec71555f-4c81-4c07-a52b-ac46b0b6ab50#6
