EARNEST's profile on WallpaperFusion.com
Hi, my guest monitor device id is diffirent from the saved one in the profiles (but it is the same monitor). As result, I can't use profiles and have to re-create them again. Is there a way to simplify this and make it agnostic towards device id as long as resolution and size match?

There isn't currently, no. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

From the host or guest vmware machine?

Whichever one you're trying to load the profile on (I'm assuming the guest?).

Thanks! So were these profiles created on the physical machine, and then you restored the settings into the VM?

That is correct, exported settings on host, imported on guest VM

Thanks! Is it the "dev" profile that you're trying to load?

Ok, thanks! I was able to get it working here with a tweak. The issue is that the profile wants monitor ID 2, but the VM only has monitor ID 1. Here's how you can fix it up in the VM:

  • Exit DisplayFusion (important!)
  • Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\MonitorProfiles\59d41241-464d-41c8-aa52-d017ead4a6de
  • Change "Monitor0_ID" from 2 to 1
  • Launch DisplayFusion and try applying the "dev" profile

Hope that helps!

Thanks, that helped. I can see how it can get a bit hairy, but is there any other way of fixing that?

Not really, no. Monitor Profiles aren't really meant to be portable across different Windows installs.
