Hi, DisplayFusion v10.1.2, W10. I have all my settings saved in a reg file and have DisplayFusion set to start with Windows. After a reboot I noticed that half of the apps I have input into my Compatability Settings are gone. So I reimport my saved settings then they are all back. But after a reboot half are missing again. Can you please fix this? Thanks :-)

Is this a personal computer or a company computer?

Do any other settings get reverted after a reboot, or just the compatibility settings?

Hi, just the compatibility settings as far as I can tell...

Could you send me two copies your troubleshooting info? One when you have the compatibility settings created and saved, and another after your reboot and they're gone? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Hi, okay here are the logs. One is titled before reboot and the other is titled after reboot. As you can see, half the applications that I put in compatability are gone after reboot. Thanks...

Thanks for sending that over. If you open your registry and head to this path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\Compatibility, are the missing settings being deleted when you reboot?

Also just to confirm, you don't have a script enabled to import a backup of your settings when your computer starts?

To your question 1 : No, it seems the missing apps have a few but not all of their registry settings being deleted. Let me explain : I normally have 22 apps in my Compatability settings. But the only ones that are now showing in DisplayFusion Compatability settings after the reboot have their names in the registry under a path. All the missing ones don't show a path in the registry anymore. I attached a pic so you can see what I mean. App 2 (Brave) shows a file path (and that's not missing). But Apps 21, 22 and 23 are missing file paths and are thus missing in DisplayFusion.

EDIT : Hmmm, I just noticed that all the non-missing apps are in my C: PortApps folder. It seems Display Fusion is skipping/failing to load all the other Compatability apps that I have in Program Files and Program Files (x86). Big clue? Also, I need to clarify that this problem is intermittent. I can reboot, stop and restart a few times and it will all work great. But then it happens again. Thanks for your help.

To your question 2 : No

That's really strange, could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log
