When using windows 7 wallpaper slide show, the colour of the icon font changes to contrast with the wallpaper colour.

When I switched to using the DF (pro 7.3.1) wallpaper slide show the icon font colour does not change and is in some cases the same as the wallpaper and there not visible and therefore not readable.

I'm sure there's a setting somewhere that can correct this but I can't find it.

Many thanks,
John

There actually isn't a setting anywhere for that. We'll test this out here though and see if it's something we can implement :)

We've just tested this out here and didn't get the same results as you when using the Windows 7 slideshow. Could you provide a couple of images that result in different font colours for the desktop icons so we can use them to test here?

Thanks!

Sorry for my lack of earlier response, I missed your last update.

I've attached a zip file that has both images and screen shots of the desktop with those images as wallpaper.

DF seems to use black as the icon text colour and it's not changed when there is a dark/black wallpaper.

Many apologies,
John

Thanks! This seems to be related to the "Use drop shadows for icon labels" option in the Windows System > Advanced > Performance settings. If I disable that option, the desktop icons get set to either white or black based on the current wallpaper, but don't seem to update, even when I just change the wallpaper using the Windows settings.

I'd recommend enabling that option, that way the text should be readable on any wallpaper :)

Hi Keith,

Unfortunately that option is already de-selected.

Sorry, I meant to say that enabling (selecting) it should fix up the issue :)

Hi,

After enabling the setting I've noticed the following so far:
- obviously the drop shadow is there
- the colour of the text does not change
- however the text is visible because of the shadowing

I'll keep on eye on it and let you know if there any further issues.

Many thanks,
John

Yeah, sorry, I should have been more clear there. The icon text colour won't change, but the drop-shadow should definitely make it visible, regardless of the wallpaper colour :)

actually i believe its an issue if you are in windows basic mode for the theme. The way to change the desktop icon font color is via the personalize control panel screen. Choose the Desktop option and choose the Color 1 to match the similar shade of your wallpaper then Windows sets an appropriate font color for that background. So if you have a black background it will make white font.

I can't seem to find that setting, I'm using win10 pro .

Also would this work when using a wallpaper slideshow, i.e. with changing images and backgrounds?
