Hi there,
I have Monitor Profiles that include Splits and within those Profiles with Splits I have set a specific Wallpaper Profiles to change one of the Split Monitors to a JPG wallpaper.
However when switching to a different Monitor profile with a set wallpaper profile it is not loaded until I reboot and then despite switching to another profile (even a non-Split profile) the wallpaper doesn't change back. So the only way is to keep rebooting. Restarting DF does not fix it, I have to reboot.
I believe this started happening in Beta 4 and continues to occur in Beta 5. Have attached my Settings REG.
Is this a known issue, currently?

When you swap Monitor Proflies, if you open the DisplayFusion Desktop Wallpaper window, does it show the correct loaded profile there?

Hi Owen,
Yes the correct profile is showing in Desktop Wallpaper window (screenshot attached) but is not shown on the actual display.

Debug log attached. Time of profile switch is around 1:52:20PM
Another point is when I switch to a split monitor profile and later on I get a User Account Control (UAC) prompt in Windows 11 (i.e. installing an app), I can see the wallpaper in place correctly. Once I approve the UAC prompt it disappears again.

We've added some further logging in our next beta, we'll let you know once it's released to grab a new log.
Thanks!

Hi Owen,
I see 11.2 Beta 6 is now out. The issue still occures. Shall I go ahead and recreate a log in the same way? Thanks.

Hi Owen,
I have tested this out in the new Beta 8 and no change. Is a fix still pending or need more logs again? Was really hoping a fix was coming in Beta 8.
We did have some changes we were hoping would fix this up. Could you send me an updated log from beta 8?

No improvements with 12.0 which is frustrating given I raised this during the beta stages and now 12.0 has gone prod.
This is a real show stopper for me. Shall I try recreating all my monitor profiles to fix?
Some guidance here would be appreciated.
I'm sorry to hear that! Can you explain exactly what the issue you're having is? Is it that when you load a monitor profile it isn't applied correctly? Is it related to the monitor resolutions or just splits? And how does the wallpaper relate to the issue for you? It sounds like there might be 2 issues here but I'd like to try and understand it better. Thanks!

Hi Jon,
Happy New Year!
I've attached a PDF that explains the issue a bit better. Its the wallpaper setting within splits that is the issue.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks Jon - this beta (12.0.2 beta 4) appears to have fixed it!

Hi there,
I know I'm kind of hijacking this thread but seeing as how the previous issue was resolved and now I'm having what seems to be the same issue, I thought I would post in this thread to continue the coverage of this problem.
I'm running the latest version, and I just reinstalled it to make sure. What I'm finding is that trying to change to a wallpaper profile that uses different wallpaper on each monitor does not actually switch the profile. If I modify the profile to either span a single image on the screen or to use the same image on each monitor, then the profile will switch and use the background mode that I had picked. However if the background mode is set to use a different image for each monitor in that profile, the profile never activates and the profile that is currently running will keep continuing to change a wallpaper based on how it's set up.
As I'm using the latest version of the software, I was wondering if you guys can have another look at this problem and see what might be going on? As per the About dialog in the main window, I'm using Display Fusion Pro version 12.0.2 on Windows 11 24H2 build 26100.7922.
Let me know if you have any questions and hopefully we can get this resolved because I can't use any of the other profiles that I have set up. Thanks!

I've attached the log file. Apologies for the delay in getting this back to you.
I initially tried to change the wallpaper theme at: 12:17:42 pm, and then again at 12:18

x (didn't see the seconds), but the theme did not change and is still set to the theme it was when I tried to change it.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for your help!

@PC-DF: Could you try enabling the "Disable Wallpaper Transition Code" option in the DisplayFusion Settings > Advanced Settings window, restart the computer (to clear any weirdness with the desktop window), then try the wallpaper again?

Just tried that, rebooted the PC... doesn't make any difference. Still stays stuck on the wallpaper theme it starts with, but now obviously without the smooth transition between wallpapers.
If you turn on the "Generate smaller files" advanced setting, does that make any difference after a reboot?

It seems to work better, but is still hit and miss.
The Desktop Wallpaper dialog where you can select individual profiles seems to sometimes work better than using the Windows 11 tray context menu to change profiles, but regardless still hit and miss. However, once it starts using a profile, it seems to work fine when changing wallpaper based on the interval set in the specific profile.
Even in the Desktop Wallpaper dialog box (again where you can select individual profiles and set timings, etc), sometimes when you change profiles and hit the 'Apply' button, the dialog box that pops up saying 'Applying..." stays for just a couple of seconds, and the profile and wallpaper doesn't change, but other times, and it seems to be random, the dialog box stays up for 5 - 7 seconds, and then the profile and associated wallpaper properly applies. Not sure what the difference is when it works versus when it doesn't.
I've had the 'Generate smaller files' option enabled since you suggested it, so the results above are with that setting enabled.

So any ideas what's going on?
Could you send me an updated debug log with the smaller files advanced setting enabled?

Exported log. Look for times between 4:33pm and 4:37pm PDT.
I tried switching to a different profile a couple of times to no effect, and then I also tried from the Wallpaper dialog box, which worked, but if you see my previous post about, it doesn't always work. I don't know if it's based on the size or complexity of the image, but doesn't consistently work.
I should also mention that between the previous debug log and this one, I've upgraded my video card to an AMD Radeon RX 6400 (this is not a gaming computer, lol), and I now have 4K HDR on both of my screens @ 60 Hz, so it looks nicer, but the problem still persists.
Thanks for looking into this some more!

How long is your timer set to rotate between images?
The images are quite big, so the compression to get it to fit within the size limit seems to be taking around a minute. The next image is trying to load on rotation but it's still trying to load the previous one, I think that's why it looks like nothing is happening. Can you try setting the interval to something really high, like 5 or 10 minutes, and see if that makes a difference?
Yeah I think the compression time definitely has something to do with it. I'll pass this over to our devs and see if they have any ideas, we'll keep you posted.
Thanks!
We've added some changes to how the compression works in our latest beta, could you try it out and let me know if it helps?

I'm having the same problem with 12.0.2.
The profile seems to load, but the image list in the wallpaper source is cleared.
I'm just using a single local image, not a rotating or remote source.
It was fine until I reinstalled my graphics drivers a couple days ago (AMD RX5600XT). They were out of date and wouldn't update, so I reinstalled the latest. This of course changed the monitor order and restored my VR headset as a usable display.
I have three regular displays, two connected to a KVM, and switching to another input on the KVM clears the wallpaper.
I also have a trigger that saves and restores window positions. I modified that to force restore the wallpaper profile, but that doesn't help, since the file list is cleared.
EDIT:
I unplugged my Index VR headset and rebooted, and the problem went away. The original monitor order was restored, including their ID numbers. Seems it might be related to how it identifies displays.
The DF taskbar on my right display (#3 in the images, #2 in the NoVR image) was also messed up (appeared as a default monitor config). That config has since been restored as well.

Yeah if the headset is changing the monitor ID's that will definitely cause some issues. Did you re-create your profiles and triggers with the new ID's after they got changed?
Could you send me two copies of your troubleshooting info, one when you have the headset connected, and another when it's disconnected?
