Good afternoon, Since I updated to the 2004 version of Windows 10 I've been having this random issue where the computer will start beeping in a "Morse Code" fashion for up to several minutes. At the same time, the mouse is barely responsive as is the entire system. There are no entries in the system or application logs and it's impossible to troubleshoot while it's happening. I can make the issue briefly occur by telling DF to change the wall paper. And I can do that consistently. I've been using DF for several years with various versions of 10. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hey David,

If you close down Display Fusion, either through task manager or through the tray, does the issue still persist?

Thanks!

I will have to test that. The only way I can "force" the issue is to tell DF to show the next wallpaper image and then it only beeps a few times for a couple of seconds. The issue is completely random as far as I can tell. Some days it doesn't happen at all and others it can happen three or more times through the course of the day. I work from home these days. So I'll see what happens and report back.

Hey David,

Interesting, can I also get you to disable "Automatically pick an accent colour from my background" in Windows Settings > Personalization > Colours, and then see if the issue still happens when you switch wall papers?

Give those two things a shot and let me know if there's any change!

Thank you for the suggestion. After testing I can confirm that with "Transparency Effects" and Automatically pick an accent colour from my background" turned off the issue doesn't appear to happen. In fact if I toggle these options I can cause the issue to happen. I"ve been using these options for years without issue until 2004 was installed. I just updated to 20H2 last night and that had no affect on the problem. Any idea why this is happening and how I can use these features still?

Hi David,

Glad to hear that's working! Interesting that it's only happened after the most recent update, we've noticed a running theme of the accent colour setting causing high load times when wall papers are switching on older windows versions as well. We currently don't have another way around it, but if we have any further information, we'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

Thank you. As a matter of fact on versions of Windows 10 prior to 2004 I noticed high load times when switching wall paper as well. I originally had that set for every ten min and had to back that off when working from home b/c it was such a disruption to whatever else I was doing, even on a high end PC. The beeping issue started with 2004 and is also clearly related to the system being too busy to respond to input. Now with these options turned off I'm able to have the wallpaper cycle every ten min again and I don't even know it happens. So...from my point of view, I don't need transparency or accent colors on the task bar. And not having that annoying disruption certainly lowers my work day stress a bit :)
