When I got your Tweet I fired up DF - and even though it had not found the update when I booted up the machine, as soon as I clicked Check for updates, it found it and installed it.

Kudos, Jon - even *that* part works correctly :D

Glad to hear it worked. :) There is a 45 second delay before it does an update check after startup. Also, I had just posted it when I tweeted, so if you started up a few minutes before you wouldn't have caught it.

I did start up before you tweeted lol....

That explains it then....

I got the buttons caption and icon bug with this build also. I got it every other day since a week or two.
I'll shutdown JKDefrag to see if it happens when I don't defrag.

Version 3.0.5 (almost ready for beta) has some more improvements in this area. I have moved all the button rendering to a common place, to try and prevent the cross-contamination that is happening. I still don't understand what is going wrong, but it only seems to be affecting Windows XP. It seems like after a while, or after a system "pause/stutter", the Windows GDI sub-system starts rendering garbage from previously rendered objects. I have centralized all the GDI button rendering code, in the hopes that there won't be any more of this. After 3.0.5 beta gets released I would love to hear if the problem persists. Thanks!

Damn, I got the problem even without JKDefrag. It's now clear that this software is not part of the problem.
