We're very excited to announce that DisplayFusion 9.6.1 is now available for download! This version fixes an issue with loading Monitor Profiles that were created in 9.5, and a few other minor issues that were in 9.6.

Important Notes!

  • The first time you open the Settings > Screen Saver tab after installing this update, it will be very slow to open, due to Windows Defender locking the .scr files for a long time during the initial scan.
  • Some anti-virus apps are blocking the installer from running automatically. If the auto-updater fails to run, please try disabling your anti-virus before running the updater, or manually download the update. We will be working on this for the next version.
  • The installer size increase is due to the inclusion of a Chromium-based webview library to replace the IE 11 based .NET webview

DisplayFusion 9.6.1 Highlights

  • Change: Bing Desktop wallpaper source had to be updated to use their new API and is unfortunately much more limited
  • Fix: Monitor Profiles from DisplayFusion 9.5 now load correctly in 9.6.1
  • Fix: "Extra" type monitors now detected by DisplayFusion (e.g. virtual monitors like Spacedesk)
  • Fix: Monitor Configuration clone options should now show up correctly in all scenarios

We encourage everyone to update to this new version today to take advantage of these improvements. If you've already purchased DisplayFusion, it's a lifetime license, so you can upgrade to this version at no cost! Any reason to update from 9.6.0 to 9.6.1 if you don't use/have no issues with the above "Highlights"? Like you're gonna release a .2 and maybe .3 in weeks time, might as well just hold off right?

If you don't need the fixes in 9.6.1 then you should be fine staying on 9.6.0 for now :)

I know it's silly to not update things, but honestly I've had issues upgrading DF before, much like how some now are losing Monitor Profiles on updating, etc. I'd rather not chance mucking up my setup for nothing really gained...

I know with patchnotes, most devs like to post just the "Hightlights" as bullet points but leave out the little things like "fixed a broken file no on has noticed yet".:-[

I tried the new version and went back to the older version as using custom functions (specifically to move windows to certain locations on the screen, or back and forth tp different monitors) were delayed on the new version for some reason, going back to the old version it went back to being swift, not sure if this is an issue for anyone else with the new version.

Hey,

I've rolled back to 9.5 as both 9.6 and 9.6.1 had performance and configuration issues on my setup. 9.6.1 in particular resulted in freezes and even a system lockup that I just don't get with 9.5. 9.6 made something of a mess of my monitor configuration, even though I didn't have a specific profile defined (as far as I know). 9.6.1 made a different mess of the monitor configuration in that, on boot, something had changed to force a secondary monitor to be primary and the primary wasn't starting...

May be worth noting that I possibly have a non-standard setup with my machine, as it's a laptop where the laptop screen isn't used, but instead I connect via Thunderbolt 3 to a Razer Core X and that is connected to three screens, the primary of which is 144Hz and the others are 60Hz. No idea whether that's relevant but given that it has been a rendering slowdown maybe that's it.

Back on 9.5 it's smooth sailing again.

Should not have upgraded to this version. Totally slowed down my PC. Every click literally takes 10 seconds.

How do I rollback to the previous stable version?

The 9.6.2 Beta 1 seems to address the issue I was seeing which was that the window movement hotkeys were very slow to respond.
