We're very excited to announce that DisplayFusion 9.7.0 Beta 14 is now available for download! This version fixes some Window Snapping issues, an issue saving Window Position Profiles, and a bunch of other minor issues.

Important Notes!

  • The first time you open the Settings > Screen Saver tab after installing this version, it will be very slow to open, due to Windows Defender locking the .scr files for a long time during the initial scan.
  • If the auto-updater fails to run, please try disabling your anti-virus before running the updater.
  • This beta updates some values in Window Position Profiles. It will automatically backup the settings before doing so, and if you run into any trouble, please let us know.

DisplayFusion 9.7.0 Beta 14 Highlights

  • Change: New Scripting Function: BFS.Input.SendKeysWithoutWait
  • Change: Removed the last bit of the Windows version number from Wallpaper Image Info because Windows doesn't accurately provide it
  • Change: Google Photos login is now down in external browser, you'll need to re-login after updating to this version
  • Change: Tweaked Window Snapping some more to make it less agressive and resolve a few minor issues
  • Fix: Wallpaper Image Info for Bing Desktop source now gets the correct description
  • Fix: Wallpaper Image Info text no longer sits under the taskbar with Monitor Splitting enabled
  • Fix: Multi-monitor taskbar no longer fights for topmost with Monitor Fading overlay
  • Fix: Window Position Profiles will ignore Citrix Window Class in cases where the class is random for every new window
  • Fix: Start menu now moves to correct monitor in latest Windows 10 Insider build
  • Fix: Start menu now moves to correct monitor in non-English Windows
  • Fix: Windows maximized to full monitor now respect the taskbars
  • Fix: Win + Tab (Task View) no longer hangs
  • Fix: Hovering Show Desktop on the DF taskbar no longer causes Aero Peek to fade in/out every second
  • Fix: Start button no longer stuck behind taskbar for 2 seconds with Monitor Fading and auto-hide enabled
  • Fix: Window Position Profiles now save correctly when being edited

Change: Tweaked Window Snapping some more to make it less agressive

Probably unintentional but it seems to have become less reliable rather than less aggressive. In Beta 14, I find myself moving windows around waiting for it to finally snap, it was working fine in Beta 12 (I guess Beta 13 was skipped). ???

@Civrock: I haven't had any reliability issues with it in testing, any chance you could capture a video so that I can see how to reproduce it here?

Don't have a way to capture a video right now but it seems to be primarily Chrome windows again. If I revert to Beta 12, it works fine.

Does it make any difference if you drag the window slowly or quickly?

No, speed doesn't seem to affect it.

How often is the snapping delayed with Chrome? I can't seem to reproduce it here, it's working as expected for me :(

I'd say every time. Wouldn't call it delayed, but rather random... sometimes it snaps, then if you keep moving it and want it to snap again, it doesn't. Other times it doesn't seem to want to snap at all.

Does it matter if there are other application windows open at the time?

I don't think so, no. It's not snapping reliably to other application windows or the edges of the screen. Other application window seems to be snapping fine (except Opera, but that's based on Chromium so likely same cause as Chrome).

Can you just revert what was changed in terms of window snapping between Beta 12 and Beta 14? Like I said, it was working perfectly fine for me. Or perhaps add a toggle for whatever change was added to make it "less aggressive" in Beta 14 so people with this issue can control it. :P

We were finally able to reproduce it here and we'll have it fixed up for Beta 15 :)

You guys are awesome, honestly some of the best support of any software I've ever used. :)

Any ETA on Beta 15?
