Summary: DF profile sets FPS to 120hz instead of 119.988hz. This results in a broken profile.
Background: I have a 2 screen sets: 1 for a monitor and 1 for a TV. This happened after upgrading to a clean install of Win11 and a new TV (Samsung s95b).
Steps to reproduce:
Switch to TV profile with DF. It should be 120hz but it fails and instead sets tv to 60z. Any attempt to change DF to 120hz for this tv fails.
Workaround:
Open Nvidia control panel (it claims 120 hz but it's only 60). Change tv resolution to something else. After change it back to my desired resolution at 120hz. This works.
In DF a new FPS entry appears and is set to 119.988hz (the original 120hz setting still exists as a separate option). Even though the hz is different, DF claims it is the same as previous non working profile. Unsurprisingly saving the 119.988hz profile doesn't change anything. It just reverts to the non-working 120hz profile instead. It seems to only able to save 120hz and not 119.988hz.
Now if I switch to another monitor set and then back to the TV I have to go through all the same steps to get 119.988hz working again. I have to do this each and every time I want to use the TV.

Can I get a response please? Windows display settings also sets this tv to the correct hz at 119.988hz.

Displayfusion does not.

Could you send me over a debug log trying to set it to 120hz? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thank you for your reply.
6:14pm - switch to 120hz TV profile in DF but does 60hz instead
6:16pm - successfully change to 120hz (actually 119.988hz) using Windows Display Settings

Thanks for sending that over. If you manually try to adjust the 119hz setting in DisplayFusion via the Monitor Configuration window, rather then loading it from a profile, does it still revert to 60hz?

When I switch to the TV, DF only shows 2 options 60hz and 120hz. As mentioned before, only the 60hz works.

When I use Windows Display Settings and turn it to 120hz, then in DF the only options are 119.988hz (selected) and 120hz. 60hz is no longer an option. Switching to 120hz from 119.988hz still doesn't work.

To answer your question directly, using DF to manually change to 120hz does not work. Changing it manually has the same result as using the profile.

Sorry for the delay here, can you try this version and see if it works? You'll have to create a new profile after installing it: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Data/Download/?DownloadID=e4469990-f9c9-4460-9e94-3b66de577eb7&Log=0

I just tried this on 10.1 Beta 6 and it's still an issue. I tried changing it manually in Windows and then re-saving the profile, but when loading it again it sets the monitor to 60 Hz.

We've released a new beta that might help here. Can you update, recreate your profile, and see if the issue persists after loading it?

Wow, thanks for the quick fix!

Beta 7 fixes the issue for me. I didn't even have to save a new profile, loading the old one correctly set the refresh rate to 120 Hz.
