Currently using DisplayFusion for the first time with the latest version, 12.0.1 and Windows 11 25H2 and can't seem to get the font size to be a readable size for the preview icons when you hover over a running app. Any way to fix this or is this a bug of some sort?

The monitor on the right has the standard Windows taskbar, the monitor on the left is Displayfusion. They used to be the same size, and the windows size is what is preferred

Now that I look at it, the icons are also smaller. The monitors are the same model with the resolutuion set the same, non-taskbar things look the same on both

ETA maybe only windows icons are smaller (e.g. Onedrive icon appears to be same size)

You are not alone. I am having the same issue. Hopefully we see a work around or resolution soon. My eyes are bad as it is, and this gives me headaches.

Thanks for sending in the troubleshooting info, I don't see anything out of the ordinary there. Trying the beta is a good idea. If it still happens with the beta, can you try a fresh reboot of the computer and let me know if it's still the same issue?

Thanks!

Hi, installed beta, still tiny (and I always reboot). What's next?

Could you send over a debug log? I wonder if DisplayFusion is failing to get the scaling value for the secondary monitors for some reason.

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and then click "Clear Log"
  • Restart DisplayFusion and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

There's nothing unusual in the debug log. I noticed in your troubleshooting info that your monitors are at 125% display scaling, but the text on the Windows taskbar in your screenshot looks closer to 150% scaled. Can you go to Windows Settings > Accessibility > Text Size, and send me a screenshot of the Text Size slider?

My text size is also at 125%. Previous to most recent update, the displayfusion taskbar was exactly the same as the windows task bar. I have reduced the text size to 100%, and as you can see displayfusion is still somewhat smaller. Regardless I would expect displayfusion to use the text size I have specified in my settings. As noted, the windows icons in the system tray are also smaller on the displayfusion taskbar (and unaffected by text size changes on the windows taskbar)

I don't think this is an issue with my computer, as others are having the same issue, and it used to work fine

Could you send me a screenshot of the Compatibility settings on the DisplayFusion .exe file?

  • Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion.
  • Right-click DisplayFusion.exe and click Properties.
  • On the Compatibility tab, is anything enabled there? (please send me a screenshot of it if possible)

Thanks!

Thanks, I was able to reproduce the text size issue here now and have added it to our list to fix up. I haven't been able to reproduce the system tray icon size issue, but hopefully it's the same root cause.

Unfortunately it hasn't for me, image attached. I encountered the issue some days ago, not sure when exactly, but I did nothing about it immediately, now however it's become problematic for me as well, I tried to fix it by using the settings and discovered not only was the task bar very small but the application itself is as well. So I grabbed beta 8 and installed it, rebooted and the problem still remains as the image shows. And it's not a global problem since the image shows another dialog open where the text is correctly sized. Hopefully this may assist to rectify this issue.

EDIT: I just had another thought, I was just on your beta/old version download page, my Win10 is 2021 vintage, so pretty oldish, and I'm deathly afraid of upgrading because I know everything will break trying, and it would take an act of god to get me to upgrade. Up until now, it's worked well, so I thought nothing about it, perhaps that has relevance to my situation.

EDIT 2: Never mind, I have .NET and .AspNet both up to V10.0.2 installed.

Hi, the task bar button font issue is fixed (thank you!), but the right click menu off the button is still tiny -- idk if it was before, I sort of think not, but I can't be sure.

@Bleys: Are the font sizes still wrong after a full restart of the computer?

Unfortunately yes, I've rebooted multiple times, including the time I installed the beta 8 version, in fact I'll do it right now, stand by…

And after the reboot…

@Bleys: From the troubleshooting info, it looks like you've got the "Font Scaling: Force Y" value set to 10 in the Advanced Settings. If you clear that value, then reboot, does that fix it up?

I believe the Force Y was my attempt to fix the scaling problem, it didn't work, and removed and rebooted now, it again didn't make any apparent difference.

@Werner_Hedgehog: 12.0.2 Beta 12 fixes the font size in the taskbar button right-click menus.

@Bleys: I managed to reproduce that small font issue once, and now I can't get it to happen again. We'll try again later and see if we can get it to happen again.

Yeah, I don't recall when it changed (can't have been long ago though, I update on release of every new version), now it won't go away for me. Beta 12 unfortunately didn't fix it either.

Would it be worthwhile uninstalling it and reinstalling it? And if I did, would I lose all my settings?

Hi, I think it is a bit bigger, but still not the size of windows task bar right click. It's a size I can live with, I have no idea if in previous versions it was as big as windows

@Bleys: Re-installing wouldn't likely make a difference, no. We'll keep at it and see if we can reproduce it again.
