I don't know how difficult it would be ... but the randomizer should follow shortcuts.

For instance it would be nice to point it at a folder, and have .lnk files that point to graphics in other folders, or even .lnk's pointing to other folders of images.

I think its easier to organize this way if you have a lot of image options (as I do).

There might be a danger of looping recursions tho, so I'd prolly give a maximum level to stop indexing on.

Why don't you just add the additional folders or files into the wallpaper settings tab in the first place?

I was doing that ... but ... well my use case is that I have a lot of pictures organized under categories (various anime series, car events, the like). Right now I have 13 entries of folders in each section, and there's a possibility to get it working exactly the way I want I am going to have to start eating up drive space by duplicating files.

If this is a simple change it might be worth more than the drive space and extra time organizing and reorganizing. If not ... I will just live with it. But I was hoping, it would be easy to implement and the coder would find a benefit to incorporating it.

You can make http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753194%28WS.10%29.aspx to folders, rather than shortcuts to them, which will be transparent to applications. Just don't make a loop of links; I haven't tried it, but I expect DisplayFusion will just hang and you'll have to kill it.

That would have been my first choice cept there isn't a windows version of ln available on my OS. That said, since the location being accessed is a personal nas environment I might be able to make a symlink with another OS.

Will have to see if XP can read it. Will report back. And yeah .. no danger of loops.

Windows 7 has "Libraries" that allow you to do exactly the kind of organizing you've mentioned. Jon says support for these Libraries is targeted for 3.2. W7 is due out in October and the beta/rc/rtm is getting rave reviews (many of us here are using it (rc) full time already and it's sweet)

In an effort to cleanup the DisplayFusion forum, this topic is being locked and archived because it applies to an older version of DisplayFusion. If you are using the latest version of DisplayFusion and would still like some assistance, please create a new topic and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks! :)
