Ever since upgrading to Win 7 Pro 64 bit, my mouse has behaved erratically. It freezes, stutters and moves erratically over the screen on a regular basis. After disabling Display Fusion, the problem goes away.
I tried many other fixes before disabling Display Fusion. I tried various wired & wireless USB mice, a bluetooth mouse & a PS/2 mouse all to no effect. I updated mouse drivers, updated graphics drivers, scanned for malware & disabled/uninstalled many other programs before discovering DF was the culprit. This is very unfortunate as i love the program and it worked perfectly on Win 7 32 bit.

If the developers or anyone else have any ideas on how fix this problem, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Control PanelMousePointer Options tab and uncheck "Enhance pointer precision". That option has been known to cause this type of weirdness even on systems without DisplayFusion.

Thanks, but already tried that & it unfortunately makes no difference.

Which version of DisplayFusion are you using?

It was 3.2. I also tried whatever the latest beta version was at the start of December but the issue persisted.

The problem was so bad it made my PC virtually unusable. I have now uninstalled DF on my 64bit PC & am running Ultramon with no issues.

I moved DF to another machine running 32bit Vista Ultimate & it works perfectly.

Prior to version 3.2 DisplayFusion frequently causes mouse stutter. However, 3.2 introduced an all-new hooking system and I haven't had a single mouse stutter complaint since. :) Can you try using the latest beta (Beta 10) and open the "Advanced Settings" dialog and disable the "Global Application Hooks" option? I'd like to see if that makes a difference for you. Thanks! :)

Setting value of Application Hooks Disabled to "1" seems to have done the trick. I've been using DF for about an hour with no mouse problems at all.

I'm happy to help with debugging, if required. However, as I've moved my licensed copy to another PC I will continue to use Ultramon as my default multi-monitor manager on my 64bit PC.

Thanks,

Can you try erasing that settings value, and give the new Beta 12 a try:

It has a new hook-loading method that should improve performance.

That's a huge improvement. There are still sporadic instances of stuttering/erratic movement but they are more of an annoyance. Previously they had rendered the software unusable.

Re erratic mouse. I used a q tip to clean the "eye" and instantly all is well.

Thanks Siliconman01 - you are a star. I was having this problem for ages and tried many different usb mice thnking they were the problem. Googled then for windows error. Seen your answer. Now solved in a jiff. This was causing me havoc with google maps ms word when trying to copy and paste and just copy and paste in general. Can't believe it was so simple in the end. Thanks.

Since moving from my Vista system to Win 7, my existing Logitech cordless mouse has suffered badly from the well reported stuttering issue with cordless mice & Win 7.
I tried all the online suggestions too to no avail.
I ended up going for a Rapoo 5GHz cordless mouse - end of problem (working fine for over 2 months now).
Whether the cause was some weird Logitech/Win 7 compatibility or a 2.4GHz spectrum crowding issue I don't know.
Whilst not a DisplayFusion issue, it's worth knowing !
