I know it seems picky, but is there a possibility of the installer starting DisplayFusion after the install? Maybe make it one of the options along with "Create Desktop Shortcut", etc?

I think it would make the install flow more smoothly, and more in-line with other installation workflows.

The v2.2 installer should have an option to start DisplayFusion after the installation. Once the files are copied and the shortcuts are created, on the last page of the installer you should see a "Start DisplayFusion now" option. The next version (currently in beta) also has this option.

Sorry, I just realized you are a beta tester and are probably talking about the beta installer. I have moved this topic to the beta forum so I can share more information with you. The installer is only able to launch DisplayFusion if the OS is Windows XP or lower. There are numerous bugs that have been traced back to incorrect elevation when running for the first time because the installation is being run as an Administrator. According to the company that makes the installer software I am now using (SetupBuilder) there will be a fix for this in the near future. However, for now Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will have to manually start DisplayFusion after installation.

Yup - Lots of programs from various developers ran into the same issue when Vista came out - Weather Watcher, for example, had issues with trying to continually copy skins over and over if you did allow it to run from the installer, because it would inherit its permissions from the installer.

However, I think the installer developers should have that fixed pretty quickly as Vista has been around for a couple of years now and, from what I understand, it is pretty easy to dictate if the child process runs with inherited permissions or not....

The old installer software I was using didn't work well with Vista, and the new one is going to in the next release. So for now I just took out the option to auto-start after installation under Vista and Win7.

Shouldn't be a problem anyway, as your first time run probably doesn't need admin rights, does it? I mean shortcut keys for the system hooks can be set without elevated privileges, so I can see why you took out the auto start.

I noticed it the first time I updated via the notification tool - after about 4 hours, when I finally minimized my desktop app and saw that my background was gone :P
