Currently DF draws titlebar buttons over windows, tracks their (x,y) positions, and updates accordingly. However the tracking updates slowly, so the buttons appear to lag behind windows being dragged around.

I'd like to suggest an Advanced Setting to show the title bar buttons only when the mouse hovers over the area where the buttons are drawn (perhaps the activation area and hover time could also be user-customizable).

This would eliminate the visual tracking stutter and provide an overall cleaner look. :)

Normally the titlebar buttons should stay with the window. If they're not, it sounds like the hooks aren't working. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

The title buttons do follow the window, but there is a slight perceivable delay between position updates, especially if you drag the window quickly. I've seen this with many shell addons (eg. Actual Window Manager), so I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary.

I'd still like to make the suggestion though, as even if the tracking was perfect (ie. no delay), I'd still prefer the option to hide the title buttons until hovered.

This would allow for a cleaner aesthetic, for a minimalist interface.

Ok, no worries! I've added it to our feature request list. We'll be sure to post an update here if we're able to implement it in a future version.

Thanks!
