I tried looking for a better place to put this and didn't find anything. Please move if need be.

#1. Currently DF can set wallpapers on individual monitors, or on ALL monitors. I have a 6 monitor setup (3below,3above) and its HARD to find good wallpapers with a resolution of 5760x2160. It would be great to have the ability to control groups of monitors. I.E.: the top 3 monitors could be group 1, and the bottom 3 could be group 2. or Left 2, middle 2, right 2, or Left 4 / right 4.

#2. Having the ability set an auto scheduled time for DF to save current window placements would be SO HELPFUL! As it is, I have to remember to hit my keycombo every time I put the laptop to sleep.

#3. the ability to remember window placement when going from 6 screens (at work) to 3 screens (at home. would be great to.

Thanks!!

#1 is possible, please see this guide: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/how-to-span-wallpaper-images-across-groups-of-monitors/?ID=ebf54915-9740-4296-a97d-41ec7784b84f

#2 is also possible, using Triggers: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/working-with-triggers/?ID=43b31609-4ec6-4478-99f8-a1f11e9793f7. The trigger event that you'd choose in the rule would be "Timer Interval," and you'd add a "Run Function" action to run the "Save Window Positions" function :)

#3: To clarify this one, you want it to keep the window positions from your 6 monitor setup so that when you return to work the next day, you can restore them?

Thanks for #1,2!

on #3. this would be when going from 6 screens at work down to 3 at home, and then wanting to restore everything the next day at work back to the 6 screens.

Ah ok, do you reboot the computer between going from home to work? Or just put it into sleep mode?

Only sleep. I rarely restart.

Ok, you should be able to do this then:
  • Set key combinations on the "Save Window Positions" and "Restore Window Positions" functions (Settings > Functions tab)
  • Before leaving work, run the Save function
  • When returning to work, run the Restore function

Hope that helps!

Thats actually what I'm doing now. I was hoping for an automated process. Forgetting to do this is a pain.

You can sort of automate the saving process, by saving your work monitor layout as a Monitor Profile, then creating a Trigger rule that runs on a timer and saves the positions, only when the work Monitor Profile is detected.

Working with Monitor Profiles

Trigger sample attached as well :)

You could even take that a step further, create another new Trigger for "Monitor Profile Changed," select your Work profile, and have it run the "Restore Window Positions" function automatically. However, the Monitor Profile Changed Triggers are sort of broken in 8.0, so this might not work correctly until we release 8.0.1.

Hope that helps!
