So... im on windows 10 - and ive periodically tried everything I cna get my hands on in order to allow me to have not only an accessory display but have my nvsurround set up operating in full screen to retain SLI performance.

I heard about prevent/ignore deactivation with DisplayFusion and AMM/AWM years ago but they never worked for me.

This time I was about to give up again (not working) when i came across a thread that said to alt/tab once first and when you come back in it will work.

That changed everything! Alt+tab and coming back in did not fix it, it returned to the same performance as if i were running borderless windowed. (both cards loaded to 90% or so).

I found out that if I held Alt+tab and moved the mouse off the screen, then back on, it retained Full SLI performance ie: saved my fullscreen and allowed me access to my other display. Dropped my card utilization from 90% to 35% ftw!

Unfortunately my jubilation didnt last. I quickly found out that when i used the hotkey combo to enable prevent deactivation, I was no longer able to right click on anything in game. Well - I could right click, as evidenced by the highlighting of the item i was clicking on, but nothing happened. Couldnt right click to equip items, couldnt right click items to sell to the vendor. It basically broke right click interacting in game which is odd as all hell.

Any idea what would cause this and how i can fix it? My entire month was ALMOST made >.<

yea so.. i tried a few things like disabling the alt tab handler and going into advanced and preventing hooks.

No luck so set things back as they were and now i cant really get it to work at all. If i mess with it a bunch (try to quickly enter back in after all tabbing I can get it to work with much more fanfaire than at first) but then i still have the issue with being unable to click on/interact with anything using right click. sigh. wont waste too much more time on this, looks like its sli or a extra display, 10 year old tech and cant have both apparently!

any idea why it simply wont unlock? I can hear the sound enable and disable it, yet its still stuck in the game window.

Full disclosure, I use 3x1 nvsurround with a +1 accessory monitor off to the side. Portrait mode, 4680x2560 and 1200x1920

Trying to play warcraft on my surround set up in full screen and peddle over to my browser/logs etc. Borderless/windowed is no good as it kills SLI.

I cant tell you what its worth to me to have this work. Ive been trying with displayfusion iterations for literally YEARS.

whats the sticking point?

OOOOOOOKAY.

I think I have it working again. Takes a very specific alt tab manager setting in order to be able to hold down alt+tab without it minimizing the game right from the get go. Once I can do that, I can move the mouse in and out freely and keep the SLI/ignore deactivation.

The issue ive found regarding the inability to click on stuff is quite an odd one. You guys get this prevent deactivation thing sorted with wow (or with surround/sli, whichever is the root issue) and get what im about to tell you sorted - and ill be a pro purchaser on the instant.

Okay - so before i go off any further here is what ive found.

If i log into wow and attempt to set up a keybind (in this case Page Up key) it enters but it adds the alt modifier for some odd reason. I thought this was some buggy patch with the game so ignored it once I realized that so long as I press ALT one time I can then press Page Up and it will bind without the alt modifier.

here is what it has to do with you guys. Remember the right clicking problem? Well it goes away once i click that alt key! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggy!

So my question is this. What in displayfusion has any reason or means of making alt function almost like a toggle? As for why it affects the right clicking in game, got me. Something is funky funky.

I have 99% of things in Displayfusion disabled too. Purely and solely after the prevent deactivation. Invaluable doesnt cut it if i can get this to work properly.

Hope this makes sense and poinots you guys in the right direction or affords you the ability to make some suggestions to me.

FWIW i tried the 8 beta 10 with no change in either issue.

nope - no taskbar popping up on the other screen the way I have it set up. Try changing your alt tab manager settings in display fusion. I believe 4 options exist and mine only functions the way (sorta) its supposed to if it is set to a very specific one. I get no taskbar popping up, and no wow minimizing or blacking out, and all is well after I hold alt/tab and slide my mouse off screen and back on.

Then i have to press the alt key one time for it to not behave as being "depressed/stuck down" its like windows isnt picking up the "key released/up" portion of the stroke.

Anyhow - hope you can get it working. Something so simple, so beneficial, so practical yet here we are after a decade of multi monitor support depending on a 3rd party to get a proper work around for something that should be par for the course within windows/games/etc.

Good luck!

DisplayFusion doesn't have any functionality that would cause the Alt key to remain held. It actually sounds like maybe the Windows Sticky Keys option is enabled. That option allows you to hold a modifier key down, then let go and press another modifier key, so that you can do things like Ctrl + Alt + Delete one key at a time (for accessibility purposes). Pressing the modifier key again when it's "Sticky" releases it.

In Control Panel > Ease of Access > "Make the keyboard easier to use," you should be able to disable the "Turn on Sticky Keys" option.

Hope that helps!
