This started happening at some point over the summer and I just lived with it, but I'd like to resolve it.

The issue is programs are opening and any newly-opened sub-windows (like a toolbox, a confirmation box, etc) will become maximized as well if the window is able to. Internet Explorer / Firefox webpages that open a normally fixed-size popup will also open then full screen. Paint.NET when it opens will pop open its toolbox in full screen, and every save/confirmation box/plugin details box opens full screen. There's more but these are some examples.

I have no Window Location definitions in DF's settings defined that would force-maximize all windows, and I don't see anywhere else in the settings that might cause this behavior.

Is there something I'm missing or should I do the uninstall / reinstall dance with DF?

My thanks.

That's strange! My guess would have been Window Location, but if you don't have any rules there, that can't be it. If you exit DisplayFusion and make sure it's not showing up in Task Manager, does this issue still occur?

It still did it with DF turned off so I did more digging.

Apparently the culprit was AMD's HydraVision's Desktop Manager "feature" that must have turned itself on during a Catalyst update over the summer. (it has a "Maximize Child Windows" thing turned on by default)

Please accept my apologies for assuming the behavior was caused by DF. My annoyance is now squarely aimed at AMD.

With that "feature" off and DF back up and running, everything is normal and I'm a happy elf again.

Thanks for the response.

No worries, glad to hear you were able to get it sorted out! That's a strange option to be enabled by default!
