I went to bed last night, everything was working exactly as is always has... Woke up today & noticed my taskbars were missing, so I try to restart Displayfusion & it won't respond. After forcing it to close with task manager I reopen it to see it sit there using 10-25% of my 3700X... doing absolutely nothing. No tray icon, no taskbars, no window... Nothing.

So I restart my PC after waiting a while to see if it would ever actually do anything, but that just ends in the same 10-25% CPU hogging with zero function... So I completely uninstall & reinstall displayfusion. Same thing, hogging CPU while doing nothing.

WTF happened last night?

Edit: I don't use antivirus besides Windows 11's built in security & displayfusion is set as an exclusion there.

Edit 2: ok after it was running in the background for over an hour before & while typing this up as soon as I posted the first edit my taskbars popped up & it seems to be working & I think I found the problem... All of my functions somehow got duplicated literally HUNDREDS of times... maybe thousands? The scroll bar literally won't move & I can barely use the window it's so laggy.

I noticed something similar happened a few updates ago where my functions all got duplicated a single time & I had to go in & delete the duplicates because it was causing binding issues. How can this be prevented? This is a pretty HUGE issue considering over night it completely bricked DisplayFusion...

Anyone know of an easy way to delete all these? It seems DisplayFusion reloads the entire list after every one I delete, causing it to stop responding for an extremely long time for each one, & as you can see by the image... that would take me days to weeks to finally delete them all.:'(

Last Edit: For anyone else who gets this issue, the easiest way I found to get back in working order was to wait until it finally loaded, VERY SLOWLY navigate to the settings & export your borked settings before importing a backup(hope you have one). If the backup works but you made a lot of changes since then like me, you can then navigate to the folder with the backups & open them both with notepad to copy anything from one to the other.

It's not fun, it's tedious, & it's annoying as all hell, but it is possible to get back where you were this way. There were well over 2000 duplicate functions in my settings file...

Woke up again today to every function having 5 copies again. Definitely not as bad, but something is clearly very wrong here. Apparently logging was disabled, but I set it to L3 & will leave it there until the next time I notice more duplicates & post it here after.

Strange, let us know when you get a log captured, hopefully that will show what's going on there. After you send it over, you can roll back to the stable version if you would like by running the installer directly overtop of your current install to maintain your settings.

Thanks!

Ok, I didn't bother counting them this time, but DF was locked up again today with a bunch more function copies. Made a copy of the log before restoring the backup settings.

Yeah I'll try switching back to stable. I think jumped on the beta a while back when I had a different issue that was fixed there & just never left.

Thanks for sending that over. Could you send me over your DisplayFusion backup as well?

I didn't hold onto the borked backup with the duplicates still in it, but I attached the one I cleaned up & have been restoring to.

I wonder if it has something to do with those triggers running. Can you uncheck "Enable Triggers" and run it for a bit to see if the issue persists?

After switching back to the beta I can confirm the duplicates still happen with the triggers disabled.

It seems to happen the most while I'm AFK, Maybe something with displays sleeping & waking? It's never been an issue for settings, but nothing ever manages to stay in place or sized correctly through a sleep-wake cycle of my monitors. It's one of the biggest reasons I need the functions. xD

It would appear to be happening during windows shutdown/boot.

I was updating my gpu drivers and after the reboot i noticed that my functions had been duplicated again

Hmmm okay, I updated to that version as well but it didn't happen for me. If it happens again could you let me know, along with the driver version you update to?

Yeah i'll do that

Note that i have had multiple duplications even without updating my GPU drivers so i do not think the driver update is the main culprit.

It happened again.
I was updating my chipset drivers through Armoury crate and during installation all my screens went black as if the graphics driver restarted. After it finished i noticed the functions had duplicated again.
