A recent AVG and Avast antivirus update is preventing DisplayFusion 9.9 from launching on some systems.
If you're running into this issue, please update to the latest DisplayFusion 10.0 Beta.

Glitch causes taskbar to move off screen and desktops to shift monitors

Hello! Hoping someone is able to help me please.

I have 3 monitors, my main being the middle and one on either side of it. Its my habit to use the start menue from my right most monitor to turn off/reset/sleep. However, recently when I go to do that, the taskbar on my main monitor glitches. It will vanish off screen and my desktops and icons will all shift to the left. They all still display as 2, 1, 3 so that doesnt change at all.

SOMETIMES if I rotate my main screen and let it reset, everything is fine, but that is on the rare occasion when the desktops dont shift. Otherwise I need to restart.

I have tried every "fix" I have found from locking the screens (which they always have been) to uninstalling updates that happened around the time that this issue began and nothing has helped.

Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Could you send me over a video of the issue happening?

Thanks!

So, in the video, you see if I just hover over the start on my right most monitor, everything starts to glitch which usually results in me losing my middle taskbar below the bottom of my screen and my desktop icons shifting monitors to the left.

Thanks for sending that over. Could you send me over a debug log as well? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

I should have mentioned this right from the start... but I dont have DisplayFusion. When I was looking for help on the Microsoft forums, I was directed to here because I was told on their forums that they are unequipped to assist with my issue, that I would have a better chance here, and did not need to have the program to find assistance.

I'm sorry if that means I've waisted your time.

Ah okay, we're a bit limited in the help we can provide unfortunately. It seems like explorer.exe is crashing, if you open up task manager and restart "Windows Explorer" that might fix it up temporarily.

There's a thread here that looks like some people had similar issues, it doesn't look like it was ever fixed :( https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-start-menu-crashes/66cd9c1c-1501-4440-88c4-8d3422be7176?page=1
