Hello,
I have Display Fusion 3.3.0.103 (Beta 3) and two monitors set up
One is my built-in display on the laptop I have and another a samsung syncmaster monitor connected through vga
I am running windows 7 x64 and in windows 7 screen resolution I have it set so my laptop is the man display (1) and my external monitor is display 2. I have these set to extended desktop, however, in display fusion it says that my external monitor is display 1 (correct driver/monitor name though) and that my laptop is monitor 2p.
In older versions (3.2) i managed to have my laptop as monitor 1 and my external monitor as monitor 2p, can i switch it to this as when i choose to only show through either my laptop or the external monitor, it shows the background i had on my external monitor as that is seen as monitor one.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott, sorry, but there isn't currently a way to re-map DisplayFusion's monitor ID's. However, the ID's shouldn't affect any functionality, just use DisplayFusion's values in DisplayFusion and you'll be fine. :)

Hi, it is impacting me, as I have 4 monitors and depending on what comes up on a reboot, the numbers affect which monitor my applications go to on starting. My primary and #4 monitor tend to remain the same. However, my #2 and #3 monitor tend to switch from time to time. I don't know what is causing this, because I haven't removed any of the monitor connections in a long time. FYI, I have 2 DVI ports being used as #3 and #4, a Display Port as primary, and an HDMI port as #2.
Can a tool be added to modify the identities in future releases?

We do have an open feature request for the ability to create monitor aliases, if we're able to add it in a future version, we'll be sure to let you know!

Any updates to the monitor aliasing feature request? This would be very handy for my current application.

It's been 5 years now, any update on this yet?
I'm a developer and I also have a 4-5 monitors setup with each their own taskbars (2 vertically splitted portrait oriented, 2 non-splitted landscape oriented plus the laptop's built-in monitor that I usually don't use except during meetings). When I open the laptop lid (mainly to use the built-in webcam during meetings), the laptop monitor becomes the 1st monitor (by id) instead of the 5th, which usually messes up my whole setup. Taskbars get displayed on the wrong monitor, my custom functions (like maximizing between 2 splits) stop working properly, etc. To fix the taskbar part, I had to create a second monitor-profile which gets loaded when I open up the laptop lid but it still messes up my custom functions. Also, it's not a useful trick since everytime I change something on my taskbars, I have to change it for both profile (which implies opening the laptop lid, waiting for the taskbars to refresh, applying my changes then closing the laptop lid and waiting again for the refresh). Could you make it so DisplayFusion uses aliases (like you've proposed) to identify monitors instead of IDs and maybe just default to IDs if no aliases are set?

Any update on this? It is really needed nowadays when people work remotely and often change their monitors configuration.
