I had to reformat my PC (hard drives failed). To make a long story short I noticed there does not seem to be a way to save your display fusion setup information. TO make matters worse, it appears that all the setup information is stored in the registry therefore making a simple "settings.xml" file backup impossible.

Question:

1. Can we have a file based settings file so we can back things up???

Thanks!

There is no option for file based settings in DisplayFusion, however it is still quite easy to backup. I made sure to only save the settings in one place in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion

Just backup that key and all the sub-keys and you're all set! :)

For people a bit skittish about diving into the registry, a "backup" button in the settings dialog would be very helpful (which would then deposit the backed up file on the user's desktop) with a one line instruction to then right-click the file to reinstate the settings into the registry.

In an effort to cleanup the DisplayFusion forum, this topic is being locked and archived because it applies to an older version of DisplayFusion. If you are using the latest version of DisplayFusion and would still like some assistance, please create a new topic and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks! :)
