When using dexpot (which support multi monitor in version 1.6 beta), display fusion works only on one desktop. That would be great if it could work on all monitors!

A few people have reported this, but every time I test it, the DisplayFusion Taskbar shows up on all of the Dexpot virtual desktops, and I haven't been able to find the difference that's making it work for me.

Basically, I install Windows 7, install DisplayFusion and enable the taskbars, then install Dexpot (tried with latest stable version, as well as the Dexpot 1.6 beta).

Are you doing anything differently when you setup DisplayFusion and Dexpot? If so, could you list them so I can test it out again?

Thanks!

No, I do everything like you. But I use dexcube, maybe that's the difference?

Nope :(

Still works for me with Dexcube enabled. Could you post a screenshot of you Dexpot Settings window?

Here is the screenshot: everything is on default settings.

Now, I use a custom theme (Placebo), but I've tried with the default theme, and nothing changes...

Thanks! Just to double-check, are you running Windows 7? It's hard to tell based on the custom theme :)

Yep :)

But now you mention it, I use a modified version (with RtWinCustomize, a tools that allows me to remove some components) of windows 7 x64. However, I mainly remove things like speech recognition, nothing very important...

Ok, I just tried Win7 with a custom theme and it's still ok :)

Could you export the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dexpot registry key and and also export the DisplayFusion Settings using the "Backup Settings" button on the Options tab and send both .reg files to me at support@displayfusion.com?

This way I'll be able to load both configurations exactly as you have them and hopefully I'll be able to reproduce it with those settings.

Thanks!

Hi!
I've just send you the mail you requested. Unluckily, i discovered (2min after sending the mail), that it's now working (with dexgrid instead of dexcube)

I'll try to get the bug again and send you the configuration files if I'm able to reproduce the problem :)

Sounds good! I'll check out the config files you sent me anyways and see if I can reproduce it here.

Just keep me posted if it breaks again.

Thanks!

I am having thjis same problem after I upgraded to DisplayFusion V4. I have tried turning on/off the various Dexpot settings/controls, but the multi-monitor taskbar only appears on the first/main desktop.

I can confirm this. It worked fine in the previous version, but broke after the upgrade. Even though the taskbar didn't display on the other desktops, the space was still reserved and the full size windows did not take up that space.

I was able to work around it by using the Dexpot "Copy Window" hotkey to copy both the taskbar windows and the start menu buttons individually to the other desktops.

Interesting workaround Derek! Did that work for you Jim?

I've tested DisplayFusion 4.0 with Dexpot 1.5, and the taskbars are showing up on all four virtual desktops. Do you guys have any custom settings or plugins for Dexpot that might be interfering?

Thanks!

To be honest, I am not quite sure what exactly Derek was suggesting we do. I tried using the Copy Window hotkey on the Start menu, but nothing happened. Copying the individual windows works (the windows are copied), but still no toolbar. I suspect I am missing the approach that Derek is suggesting! A little more detail would help me out... :-)

I did notice that expanding a window to full-screen leaves the space for the toolbar - as Derek pointed out.

1) I changed "Dexpot Settings -> Controls -> Hotkeys -> Copy Window -> to all" to "Windows Key + `"
2) I go to the desktop that has all the taskbars displayed.
3) I click on one of the displayfusion taskbars (not the main windows taskbar) and press "Windows Key + `"
4) Repeat step 3 for each one of the displayfusion task bars.
5) I click on one of the start menu icons on one of the displayfusion taskbars and press "Windows Key + `". I do have an issue where I click on the start menu icon and it does not display the start menu. After clicking a few times, it works. You have to press the hotkey when the start menu is NOT displayed.
6) Repeat step 5 for each one of the displayfusion task bars.

A bit more automated solution would be to create a rule for DisplayFusion in Dexpot.

1. Dexpot -> Main Menu -> Desktop Rules
2. Click the "Assistant" button
3. Name the Rule something like "DisplayFusion"
4. Click "Next
5. In the "Condition 1" section, use the application selector to select the DisplayFusion toolbar
5.1. Condition should say Executable is DisplayFusion.exe
6. Click "Next"
7. Select "Copy" in the "Action 1" dropdown menu
7.1. Values should be Copy all desktops
8. Click "Next"
9. Click "Done"
10. Click "Apply"
11. Click "Apply Rules"
12. Click "Ok"
13. Enjoy DisplayFusion on all Dexpot desktops!

Hope that helps!

Hey all, just a quick update: I was able to get in touch with the developers at Dexpot, and they've added a built-in exception for DisplayFusion so that the taskbars will remain on all virtual desktops by default. The fix will be included in Dexpot 1.6, due out on July 16th.

Thanks!
