Will DF just work like you'd expect it to, mirroring the new start menu from day 1? Or will it break and require some updates?

Hello,

With the changes to the start menu it won't work right away, but we should be able to run the insider builds and get it fixed up before the final release.

We'll have a bit better of an idea after the announcement on Thursday as well :)

Thanks!

"apps can no longer customize areas of the taskbar"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFCeCPpfnhQ
Does this mean they will break the ability for 3rd part customization of the taskbar? Has anyone used multiple monitors on 11 so far? hows the taskbar?

This is a really important time for you guys. Since it appears there's no way to customize the taskbar and make it look like Windows 10. I came here thinking there was a way to use DF as the main taskbar but I guess it's not available yet.

You can make the taskbar in W11 left-alligned if that's what you mean.

Just moved to Windows 11, Build 22000.51.

Any chance of getting early betas of DF for testing?

So what type of issues did you run into? I am about to install 11 shortly.

Right now, only that the Start button on non main windows doesn't work. There is another "issue" with Desktops in Windows but I think that it is an issue with Windows and not DF

Yes it looks a bit odd to have the old UI in Windows 11. For others the only issue I see is that clicking on the windows icon does not result in bringing up start menu. But the taskbar does show the apps on the monitor. So only a minor annoyance.

I also updated to Windows 11. Besides the windows button not working on my second screen also the taskbar on my second monitor is Windows 10 style instead of the new style. I guess the new style will come with future DisplayFusion releases?

So far I only have two smaller issues with DF and Win 11.

Win 11 has a built-in "FancyZones" feature which you can use if you hover over the window maximize button. With DF enabled it will only show briefly the window with no chance to use that feature.

The second smaller issue is with Multi-Monitor Taskbars. Leftclick on the Windows Button on DF Taskbars does not do anything. Rightclick will open the "shortcuts window", but not where I clicked. Instead it uses the "original" Windows Button location.

Hello,

@Lupus, Could you send over a video of the issue happening? I can't seem to reproduce that on my end.

As for the taskbar appearance, we will do our best to make it match the Windows taskbar, but that likely won't be until later in the summer when Microsoft has finalized the design.

The other issues in this thread have been noted.

Thanks!

I just noticed on one of my systems with Windows 11, I have had to disable DF alt tab feature otherwise I get multiple "DesktopWindowXamlSource" references in DF's alt tab. My assumption is something is broken as disabling the feature in DF's settings they no longer appear under W11's alt tab.
Will have to look at my other systems later and report back.

hey guys when i'm trying to execute this script

cmd.exe
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusionCommand.exe" -monitorloadprofile "newone"
exit

to load the other profile that i have configured with the other monitor i'm getting the specific error :

An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.
Error: Failed to call SetDisplayConfig. [HR: 87]
[System.Exception]

It was working perfectly fine in windows 10 till i upgraded to Windows 11 Pro 21H2 22000.71 Windows Feature Experience Pack 421.18201.0.3 . I'm using DisplayFusion Pro on Steam 9.8 10.0.22000.

Any chance i make it work in the current version ? thanx in advance !

p.s. tried as well with the 10.0 beta 3 version, still same issue

p.s.2 ALL SOLVED leaving my comment here in case someone else have the same issue. I needed to resave the monitor profiles and everything started working again!

It looks like it has something to do with Multi-Monitor Taskbar. If I disable this, the built-in "Fancy Zones" preview does not dissapear.

I have split my Monitor into three "separate Monitors" using the Splits and Padding feature. Monitor 1 uses the Windows Taskbar on which the "Fancy Zones" preview works and does not disappear. But on Monitor 2+3 it will disappear due to the Multi-Monitor taskbar enabled there.

If I disable the Multi-Monitor taskbar, the feature will work on all three monitors.

Is there a list of know issues that we can verify? One thing I am currently seeing is that when right clicking on start on secondary monitor the context menu shows up on the main one.
The size of the windows logo also seems a bit large compared to main monitor. See attached images.

So far it looks good, thanks! Though I can center the buttons, I am having difficulty centering the start menu too. Is this a known issue?

I use Profiles extensively. I have 5 windows on my main monitor each with their own taskbar, as shown in the screenshot. Can anyone tell me if I am going to have any issues with this? Humorously enough, DF is the only Windows app I care about losing access to with Win 11. Anything else that does not work right I can live with. But I'm dependent on DF!
Thanks!

Ummm... I read through all this. I thought Owen said DisplayFusion would be updated to work with Windows 11 by launch. It's launched. All I could see in this thread was a link to a beta. Is that all that's out yet? May I suggest something on the Displayfusion front page updating us preciesly what their Windows 11 plan is and if there is a version we can run on Windows 11. I have 9.8 and have no idea if I upload to Windows 11 if it will all collapse down around me. Do I need to back up the settings? How do I upgrade to the beta if that's what we have to do and on and on. Should I would uninstall Display Fusion before the upgrade and then install the beta? If I do that how do I move all my settings over to the beta. I should think there would be many many users wanting to know this basic info.

I just installed win11 last night; I forgot that DF needs to be compatible for it to work well.
Came looking didn't see anything about a beta or official version and like this guy said I have read that there would be a version available by win11 launch, win11 has been out for 2 weeks now and we still have outdated version of DF which is 9.8
Seriously? my start menu is messed up, instead of the start menu opening in the middle of the screen it opens on the far right and there's no way to move this.
How do we get an updated version or even the beta? I am hoping this would fix the start menu opening in the wrong place.

Perhaps this will be deleted, but given the complications I said to heck with it. I finally tried out FancyZones in Microsoft's Free Power Toys. It does everything I needed Display Fusion to do without the hassle. As such I've uninstalled DisplayFusion. No need for anyone to reply to my requests for help on this any more.

This is somewhat helpful, but it doesn't shorten the task bar, I don't like it spanned all the way across my silly 49" monitor and I guess I kinda don't need multi monitor zones as FZ Power toys has it and W11 already has some of it built in ;)
I also can't have more than one wallpaper on the same screen like I could with DF but I can have more than one desktop which has been built in with several versions of windows now
You are right, DF is no longer much of use and FZPT can remember window positions without having to make window profiles it seems.
Thank you for your reply! :)

I'm also going to look into alternative solutions for the issues I use DisplayFusion for...
I don't like being in the dark. Is DF on W11 gonna be a mess for a week, a month, a year?
Things I use DF for: full functionality on all taskbars (systray etc.), auto-hide taskbar on my oled tv, shortcut key to dimming my oled tv.

Hello,

@13schishti533800 Is an error appearing when trying to split your monitors?

@DaleDietrich Sorry to hear! I'm still going to answer your questions for anyone else who comes across this. As mentioned earlier in this thread, our latest beta contains our updates for Windows 11. You can update by downloading the installer from our website, found here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/ (you can install this directly overtop of your current install). You can also update via the DisplayFusion Settings > Options > "Check for new beta versions" checkbox. All your settings should carry over, so you shouldn't need to create a backup, but it definitely doesn't hurt to create one :). You can create a backup via the DisplayFusion Settings > Options > "Export Settings".

Thanks!

The maximize preview issue should be fixed up in the latest beta, available here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta. Please let me know if you still run into any trouble after updating.

Edit: This beta also contains a center option for the start button

Thanks!
