I'm hoping someone can help me with this, beacause i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.

I would like a program to launch when i enable a new monitor, and have that program run maximised on that monitor. However i cant seem to get it working.

I've been doing it like this; Under TRIGGERS and EVENTS, i select 'Monitor Profile Changed', then ADD - RUN NEW CUSTOM FUNCTION.
In the resulting window, i give the trigger a generic name, and under FUNCTION ACTION i select LAUNCH APPLICATION. I specify the program and save it all, but it doesn't work at all.

Any help would be appreciated!

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! To use the "Monitor Profile Changed" Trigger Event, you need to have some saved Monitor Profiles. So for example, if you've got a monitor that is sometimes enabled, sometimes disabled, save each of those configurations as a Monitor Profile.

When you switch between them, DisplayFusion will then detect the Monitor Profile Changed event and fire any Trigger rules for it :)

Hope that helps!

Ok great, that's mostly got it sorted, thank you. I've been able to get it working for standard windows programs, but it doesnt seem to work with apps from the Microsoft Store.

I had a similar issue trying to get a trigger to activate an app from the Microsoft Store once before, and another user helped me on another thread...
https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/can-display-fusion-control-microsoft-store-apps/?ID=85a157f3-361d-4a0c-84b8-735d82ebf593
This seems to be a similar problem, but the same solution doesnt seem to work.

So my method is as follows...
I have 2 monitor profiles saved, '2Mons' & '3Mons'. I would like to be able to activate my 3rd monitor, and have Spotify (from the Microsoft Store) load on it. Under TRIGGERS, in events, i select MONITOR PROFILE CHANGED, and select the profile 3MONS. I then select ADD - ADD NEW CUSTOM FUNCTION. I give it a name (which i cant seem to be able to use or delete old names??), and under FUNCTION ACTION i select LAUNCH APPLICATION.
Using advice from the previous thread, under APPLICATION i put in C:\Windows\System32\ApplicationFrameHost.exe, and under APPLICATION PARAMETERS i type SPOTIFY. Then save, but this doesnt work. I'll just clarify again that it works fine with normal programs like Windows Explorer.

Would love any advice you could give :)

Launching the UWP apps isn't the same process as detecting them for Trigger rules. When you setup the "Launch Application" function for Spotify, make sure Spotify is running, then use the "Select Application" window to choose it. DisplayFusion should fill in the correct details for launching the app.

Regarding viewing/editing previous Custom Functions, they're all on the Settings > Functions tab.

Hope that helps!
