Is anyone else having this issue? Maximized windows doesn't seem to take into consideration the DF taskbars from non-primary monitors.

I'm on Windows 11 build 22000.675.

I was on the non-beta 9.9 and installed the new beta 16 but still same issue

Hi James,

This issue should be fixed up in the latest beta, available here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta. Please let me know if you still run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

Ah scratch that, I missed your mention of Beta 16 :)

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

Hi James,

Thanks for sending that over. When this issue happens, if you restart explorer (Task Manager > Right Click "Windows Explorer" > Restart), and then restart DisplayFusion, does the issue happen again right away?

Thanks!

Yes, it does. However, sometimes after I restart the laptop, it's working fine. Like right now, it's working perfectly fine. I loathe to shut down my computer now since it's working. I've been putting it on hibernate now. Lol

OK, when I powered back up from hibernation, the same problem occurred. However, when I followed your instructions, it was fine and working again.

Ok, looks like every time I start up the system after a hibernate, I have to restart windows explorer. However, I did not have to restart DisplayFusion, just windows explorer and everything works fine after that.

Hi James,

In beta 16 we added a prompt to restart explorer when DisplayFusion detects this error, has that come up at all?

Thanks!

Unfortunately no, I have not seen that pop up at any point.

Strange! Beta 16 should be popping up a prompt to restart explorer when it detects that Windows is refusing the workarea change for the taskbar. Could you send us a debug log? (Send it to us while the workarea is broken)

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

So this usually occurs when I'm starting back up from a hibernate. If and when the issue occurs, would that time be when my computer turned back on from hibernate?

Here is the log right after I booted back up from hibernate. The issue came back and no pop up msg asking to restart explorer.

Thanks! The debug log seems to indicate that explorer.exe is somewhat hung or having issues, as it's failing to return the data that DF is asking for. Strange that you're not getting the prompt to restart explorer automatically though.

Are you running anything like ExplorerPatcher on your machine?

Nope, but I have Start11 installed and using that since Win11 doesn't have the option to disable combining windows anymore.

Ok, couple of follow-up questions:
  • Is the Windows taskbar hung for a bit when your machine comes out of hibernate?
  • If so, does it eventually start responding again?

Yes it does.

Do you have the "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" option enabled?

Yes, because that is one of the few ways to get modify how the taskbar combines windows. I can disable for a few days to test.

That would be great! Please let me know how that works out. I was able to reproduce something similar when that option was enabled in Start11 so I just want to confirm that it's the same option causing issues for you as well.

It looks like it is that option. I would love for it to work together though as that's the only option I use from Start11. Lol

Thanks for confirming! We'll look into it to see if there's anything we can do here.
